一、英文演讲稿：

China is an ancient vicissitudes of life, there is a country's long

history. In the past five thousand years, China has been using his

sonorous and powerful body, time and again crosd the dangerous,

China has long been a firm body! At prent, China has become

increasingly strong.

China! I love you!

There are many places of interest in China, all of which have unique

charm. Such as the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Yellow River,

mogao Grottoes and so on. But this time I want to talk about our Great

Wall.

The Great Wall is an ancient work of defen which it took the

longest time to construct with the greatest quantity of work in China and

in the world. Ever since the 7th or 8th Century B.C., construction of it

continued for more than 2,000 years, as a result of which it is en on the

vast lands in the north and middle of the country with a total length of

over 50,000 metres, and hence its claim of “spanning more than 2,000

years and covering over 100,000 li”. Such a gigantic project that it took

is unique not only in the history of China but also in that of the world, on

which account it has been rated as one of the Seven Wonders of the

World among such as the Roman Gladiators’ Arena and the Leaning

Tower of Pisa.

In the year 220 B.C. or so, First Emperor of Qin (259-210 B.C.), who

had just managed to unify the entire China, had the disconnected

defen works that had been built earlier linked up into a complete

system of defen for the purpo of repelling the invasion from the

north. During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), as ordered, the

construction continued, and the Great Wall was made into the longest

military work in the world, who claim to cultural and artistic values can

stand at par with its importance in history and strategy.

The so-called “Great Wall Underwater” in the Panjiakou Rervoir,

the Man [Manchu] Nationality Autonomous County, Kuancheng, Hebei,

has been suspended highly in parts. How did the stretch of wall come to

form a unique and miraculous spectacle? Xifengkou and Panjiakou

Fortress constructed more than 500 years ago were two important

pass for the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty and major lines of

communication leading from central China to the northern and

northeastern frontiers, on which stretch that lasted for about 50

kilometres there were 21 arnals and 160 watch towers. The year 1975

witnesd the completion of Panjiakou Rervoir, a large water

conrvancy project, and after the waters reached its designed capacity,

the level of water surpasd the height of that part of the Great Wall.

Therefore Xifengkou and Panjiakou Fortress were submerged, and the

stretch of the Wall of 500 years of age was overwhelmed underwater.

However, years of drought on end had nt the level of the water within

the Panjiakou Rervoir dropping rapidly, so at the end of the 20th

century, that stretch which had been hidden under for 20 or more years

remerged above the water.

I am afraid I can not prent the whole picture of Great Wall within

such a short period of time. But we know that the Great Wall guards

generation after generation of Chine children, we read it from its tough

back.

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe that Great Wall will prove to be a

land of wonders to the worldwide. The Great Wall scenery is still good,

welcome friends from all over the world to Come to China, come to the

Great Wall, feel the sun rising, its charm.

中国是一个沧桑古国，有着悠久历史的国家。在过去的五千年里，中国一直用他那铿锵有力的身体，一次又一次地跨越艰险，中国早就有了坚实的身体!目前，中国已经变得越来越强大。

中国！我爱你！

中国有许多名胜古迹，它们都具有独特的魅力。如紫禁城、颐和园、黄河、莫高窟等。但这次我想谈谈我们的长城。

长城是中国和世界上建造时间最长、工程量最大的古代防御工程。自从公元

前7或8世纪,建设持续了2000多年，由于它广阔的土地上看到在该国北部和中部的总长度超过50000米，因此它所宣称的“跨越2000多年，覆盖超过100000里”。这样一个庞大的项目,它不仅是独特的在中国的历史，而且在世界上占被评为世界七大奇观之一，如罗马角斗士的舞台和比萨斜塔。

大约在公元前220年，刚刚统一了整个中国的秦始皇(公元前259-210年)，为了击退来自北方的入侵，把早些时候修建的互不相连的防御工程连接起来，形成了一个完整的防御系统。到了明朝(1368-1644)，长城按照命令继续修建，成为世界上最长的军事工程，其文化和艺术价值与它在历史和战略上的重要性相当。

河北宽城满族自治县潘家口水库所谓的“水下长城”部分被高悬。这一段长城是如何形成独特而神奇的奇观的呢？喜峰口和潘家口堡垒建设500多年前是两个重要的通行证明朝的长城和主要的交流主要从中国中部北部和东北边疆的伸展，持续了大约50公里有21个军火库和160座瞭望塔。1975年，大型水利工程潘家口水库建成，水库蓄水量达到设计蓄水量后，水位超过了这段长城的高度。因此，喜峰口和潘家口的堡垒被淹没，这段有500年历史的长城被淹没在水下。然而，连年的干旱使潘家口水库的水位急剧下降，20世纪末，隐藏了20多年的水位终于浮出水面。
