Nobel Prize Speech ((Excerpt )
I decline to accept the end of man.
It is easy enough to say that man is immortal becau he will endure: that when the last ding-dong of doom1 has clanged and faded from the last worthless rock hanging tideless in the last red and dying evening, that even then there will still be one more sound: that of his puny inexhaustible voice, still talking. I refu to accept this.
I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not becau he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but becau he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance. The poet’s, the writer’s, duty is to write about the things. duanwenw.com It is his privilege to help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past. The poet’s voice need not merely be the record of man; it can be one of the props4, the pillars to help him endure and prevail.

Many scientists, from their earlier work, know enough to make good guess on the solutions to the problems they are working on.
In making new discoveries, they may u trial-and-error, they may u past experience, duanwenw.com or they may try to find out what others have discovered. They may come up with new experiments and new ways of testing their results. Scientists have to train themlves to u their brains efficiently; that is, they train themlves to think.
For example, when Thomas A. Edison was trying to make an electric lamp, he needed a substance for the filament* inside the bulb that would glow brightly without burning up quickly. He tried more than a thousand different filaments before he found one that he could u. After each trial he thought about how the new substance had behaved. He kept notes and compared results. After he had experimented for a long time, someone asked Mr. Edison if he was ever discouraged by the time they thought he had wasted. He replied, "I have not been wasting time. I have just found a thousand materials that won’t work. Now I can look for others that will." Edison’s statement is important. Above all, scientists demand to know when and where they are wrong. A good question to ask in science is not, "Am I right? "but, "Am I wrong?"
Scientists spend many years studying and training themlves to u their brains and the tools of investigation. duanwenw.com They also u each other’s work. Isaac Newton, the famous British scientist who lived over 300 years ago, once said he saw further than others becau he stood on the shoulders of giants.

When we were little kids, we didn’t dream of a life of struggle and frustration. We dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. We dreamed big.
We know now that we have to put in the effort to reach our dreams, but the tough part is that most of us don’t know where to start working. duanwenw.com We might have every intention of becoming Vice President in five years or running across the finish line in a marathon or completing the novel we started years ago. But often we have no idea how to translate the dreams into actions.
In order to make real steps toward fulfilling our ultimate, big, splashy dreams, we have to start with concrete objective. The are our goals.

2I'm just sitting here in my room today, listening to music while it rains outside my window, and I can't stop thinking about how happy I am and how great my life is. There's nothing particularly special about it - I'm not rich or famous, I'm not exceptionally talented, and I don't do anything particularly fabulous for a living. But I feel somewhat organized, I have a clean room and a car and a job, and most of all what makes it great is the mere fact that I feel happy.

And the emotions of the past feel like they happened to someone el. They are so foreign and distant to me. For some, it may take even longer, and it may take even more.

A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call asap, changed his clothes & went directly to the surgery block. He found the boy's father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor. On eing him, the dad yelled:
"Why did you take all this time to come? Don't you know that my son's life is in danger? Don't you have any n of responsibility?"
The doctor smiled & said:
"I am sorry, I wasn't in the hospital & I came as fast as I could after receiving the call...... And now, I wish you'd calm down so that I can do my work"
"Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now what will you do??" said the father angrily
The doctor smiled again & replied: "I will say what Job said in the Holy Book "From dust we came & to dust we return, blesd be the name of God". Doctors cannot prolong lives.
The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy,"Thank goodness!, your son is saved!" And without waiting for the father's reply he carried on his way running. "If you have any question, ask the nur!!"
"Why is he so arrogant? He couldn't wait some minutes so that I ask about my son's state" Commented the father when eing the nur minutes after the doctor left.
The nur answered, tears coming down her face: "His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was in the burial when we called him for your son's surgery. And now that he saved your son's life, he left running to finish his son's burial."
Moral - Never judge anyone..... becau you never know how their life is and what they're going through"
Life is full of miracles. They surround us every day. One of the miracles happened to me recently. I was filling my car’s tank at a local gas station. It was only 10 A.M. but I already felt tired. It was a cloudy, gloomy and rainy day and I hadn’t slept well the night before. After I paid for the gas I turned my car towards the main road. I looked right and left then my brain nt the signal for my foot to push on the gas pedal but nothing happened. Shocked, I shook my head to clear it and gazed down at my foot.
Just as I did, though, a mi-truck roared past my car doing 60 mph. My weary, bleary eyes hadn’t en it when I had looked just 2 conds earlier. If I had been pulling out when I should have been my little green car would have been smashed and I would have most likely been killed. I sat there for a long time quietly thanking God for sparing my life before pulling out on the road and heading home. This time both my brain and foot worked perfectly.
As I looked back on that moment later I still couldn’t understand it. Did God prevent my brain’s signal from reaching my foot? Did an angel grab my toes to keep them from pressing on the gas? One question kept coming back into my mind as well: why? Why did I get this miracle? Why did God spare my life this day? Finally, I felt the answer forming deep within my heart and mind. I heard the words coming from my soul saying: “You still have more to do. Your work is not done yet!”
Richard Bach wrote: “Here is the test to find if your mission on Earth is finished: if you are alive it isn’t.” Wake up each day then knowing that your mission isn’t done yet. You have more love to share, more people to help, more kindness to give. You have one more day to be the miracle God meant for you to be.
