威廉·萨默塞特·毛姆 William Somert Maugham,1874年1月25日-1965年12月16日),英国著名小说家,剧作家,散文家。毛姆原是医学系学生,后转而致力写作。他的文章常在讥讽中潜藏对人性的怜悯与同情。《人性的枷锁》是其毕业生心血巨著,也为他奠定了伟大小说家的不朽的地位。 毛姆被称为英国的莫泊桑。他一生著作甚多,除诗歌以外的各个文学领域,都有所涉及,有所建树。他共写了长篇小说二十部,短篇小说一百多篇,剧本三十个,此外尚著有游记、回忆录、文艺评论多种。他的作品,特别是他的长、短篇小说,文笔质朴,脉络清晰,人物性格鲜明,情节跌宕有致,在各个阶层中都拥有相当数量的读者群。他的作品被译成各国文字,不少小说还被搬上银幕。他是二十世纪上半叶最受人欢迎的小说家之一。
我前些天刚刚读了《面纱》,觉得他对人物心理的描写非常有感触。语录很多地方都有的。
1、一经打击就灰心泄气的人,永远是个失败者。
