创作背景

《The Monster》最初由Frequency、Alias、Bebe Rexha和乔恩·贝利恩等人创作，取样自Bebe Rexha歌曲《Monster Under My Bed》。Bebe Rexha表示，歌曲的创作灵感来源于她本人试***走出低迷时期的经历。

当歌曲创作完成后，制作人Frequency将歌曲提供给了Shady唱片公司的'执行副总裁瑞格斯·莫拉莱斯。在听完这首歌曲后，瑞格斯·莫拉莱斯便要求得到歌曲的一些片段，并将其送至埃米纳姆的手上。之后埃米纳姆接受了这首歌曲，并在歌曲中加入他个人的说唱部分，同时对伴奏进行了调整。
