一、环境保护

Protection of Environment

　　There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One o the most rious problems is the rious pollution of air, water and soil. The polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water caus dias and death. What’s more, vegetation has been greatly reduced with rapid growth of modern cities.

　　To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot. Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and a resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in the environment protection today.

　　In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environment protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population. Finally’ tho who destroy the environment intentionally should be verely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means destroying mankind themlves.

二、健康与财富

　　Wealth brings happinessDirections: In this part, you are to write an essay entitled “The Relationship between Wealth and Happiness”. You can agree or disagree, completely or partially to the above statement. But whatever position you take, you should give sound supporting reasons. 　　Wealth has always been what some people long for. It is true that most of them try to acquire wealth by means of honest labor. Their efforts contribute to the welfare of the society and at the same time to the accumulation of their wealth, and hence to their happiness.

　　There is no doubt that wealth brings happiness, especially in the modern society. Various kinds of up-to-date houhold appliances, latest fashions and recreations make their appearance with each passing day. All this makes our life more comfortable and colorful. Therefore, without money we cannot turn admiration into reality.

　　Wealth, however, can also lead to disasters, if we have an inappropriate approach to it. Wealth may tempt weak-willed persons to be addicted to harmful habits, such as drug-taking and gambling, and result in their own ruin. Besides, a person may lo his reason and go astray if he intends only to ek wealth and indulges himlf in leading a luxurious life. For example, there are some government officials who take advantage of their positions to take bribes from the people turning to them for help . Obviously, wealth may bring us disasters if we don’t take a proper attitude to it. In my opinion, on no account can we equate happiness with wealth. I also believe that one should never reckon only on wealth to achieve happiness.

Is Failure a Bad Thing?

　　Failure is a common thing in our daily life. For example, sometimes we fail to pass the examinations. On other occasions, we are defeated in sport games. And there are times when we fail to do more satisfactory work. So it is safe to say that every one of us must have encountered failure of one kind or another.

　　However, different people have different attitudes towards failure. Some people lo heart when they come across failures. They em to think that it is the end of the world. Others, on the contrary, don’t take failure riously. They em to think that failure is first step to success.

　　In my opinion, what really counts is not failure itlf, but our attitude towards it. If we are afraid of failure and yield to it easily, we are bound to have one failure after another. But as long as we have confidence in ourlves and learn something from failure, we’ll certainly go from victory to victory. So I’m never afraid of failure, or I firmly believe that “failure is the mother of success.”

　　Nowadays, unsafe foods can be found, now and then, in the market, which has aroud a lot of public attention. It is reported that the foodstuff ranges from substandard milk powder, tainted/dyed steamed buns to pork with lean meat powder.

　　Fake commodities are harmful in many ways. To begin with, it is a waste of resource, especially in our country. Second, it has bad effect on the reputation of the real manufacturers and brings about moral Crisis. Above all, all that matters is food.people’s health and lives are verely threatened if someone buys some unsafe foodstuff.

　　Measures should be take to deal with the problem. On the one hand , strict laws should be pasd to punish the producers and the llers. On the other hand, consumers should be told to distinguish the genuine goods from the fal ones. At the same time, the government should strengthen the supervision of all aspects of food. I firmly believe this problem will be solved in the near future.

五、男女平等

Should Men and Women Be Equal?

　　People have different ideas about this issue， Some people say that men are superior to women in ability becau men are physically stronger， do most of the hard labor in the world and hold most important positions. Other people believe that women have the ability to compete with men. There have been many famous women state leaders and great scientists in the world. We should fully carry out the principle “to each according to his work” so that the enthusiasm of both men and women for work can be fully aroud.
