Peace is when entities are in harmony. In its most immediate and popular meaning, signifies the abnce of hostilities. This definition of peace refers to a condition where nations or groups are not engaged in violent conflict. The conception of peace can go further to mean a relationship between parties characterized by respect, justice, and good will. Further descriptive meanings for peace include: a peace agreement, calm in the natural environment, an internal state of renity, and silence. Since peace is a term prone to subjective viewpoints, there are many different definitions of peace.
The traditionally accepted political definition of peace and the very word itlf comes from the influence of the ancient Romans who defined peace, pax, as abntia belli, the abnce of war.
