Sometimes even tho top students who excel at grammar and writing skills find their English inadequate to express their thoughts freely when speaking。 A test of spoken English will bring the importance of speaking English to the awareness of the college students， and thus help them with their communicating skills.

I believe that a test of spoken English will do more good than harm. Since China will continue its policy of opening and reform， the ability to speak fluent English is a must for
anyone who wants to surpass others in a highly competitive society. Whether I take the test or not， I shall make all efforts to practice my spoken English in the rest years in college。
Should Firecrackers be Banned？

There is no connsus of opinion among people as to whether firecrackers should be banned or not. Some people are of the view that firecrackers should be agreed with， while some people take an opposite stand， firmly believing that firecrackers should be banned。
People who agree with firecrackers hold that letting off firecrackers can bring people delight feeling. They also claim that firecrackers reprent happy things and they should be let off as a traditional way in special days。
Nevertheless， the other people who are inclined to ban firecrackers argue that letting o
ff firecrackers not only makes noisy but also sharply increa air pollution. They also point out that firecrackers are so dangerous that do harm to humans’ safety。
From my viewpoint， the latter opinion holds more weight。 For one thing， letting off firecrackers can be taken place of by another way。 Therefore， I think firecrackers should be banned.
