Identify and briefly describe the most popular sport in your country. Then explain why this sport has become the most popular sport in your country. Support your ideas with evidence as well as personal examples and/or experiences.
With China becoming stronger, the support for athletes becomes greater, and so I believe that Chinas achievements are becoming greater and greater. Many more different sports become practiced in China. In the sports, I think table tennis is the most popular sport in China, bangerecau there are many people who like to play this, also, this is one of the sports that Chine people are best at.
In 1884, table tennis first began in England. And then in the early 1900s, it became more and more popular. And in 1926, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) was formed, and a tournament, held in London, was designated as the first World Championship. As table tennis became popular all over the world, Asian countries joined the sport and soon became world leaders. Since 1950, the Chine and Japane players have got most of the world titles. Table tennis in China became more and more popular. (History of Table Tennis)
In the early 1950s, Mao decided table tennis should be the national sport of China. Sociologistplayboys saw this decision as a smart step by Mao to shore up his power. Developing the sports was a good way for China to build confidence, show the world its capability and get over the humiliations of the previous century and a half. Table tennis became a role model for the nation, and now, it is still considered as the national sport of the China. So, most Chine people like to play table tennis. (Matthew Syed, The Times of London, August 10, 2008)
In 1971, at the World Championship in Nagoya, Japan, an American ping-pong player, Glenn Cowan, made friends with Zhuang Zeding, a famous Chine player. Photograph of their handshake was published in the Japane newspapers, giving Mao the idea of invited the U.S. team to visit China, to improve the relationship between China and America. The invitation and the visit created a diplomatic wonder. Nixon called this “the week that shook the world.” After 10 months, Nixon visited China. And Mao said this is the “ping-pong diplomacy”. So table tennis has an important place in China. (History of Table Tennis-Ping Pong Diplomacy 1971) (Larry Hodges and Cheng Yinghuanot only but also, Secrets of

Chairman Mao’s decision that let table tennis to be the national sport in China is a reason why table tennis is so popular now. And he decided this just becau table tennis was the perfect low-cost game for a poor country. Also, another reason is he liked to play table tennis. In any ca, China was admitted to the ITTF in 1953. And in 1959, Chine player Rong Guotuan won the table tennis world champions, becoming the first Chine player to be a world champion in any sport. And in next three world champions, Zhuang Zedong won the titles. (Matthew Syed, The Times of London, August 10, 2008)
Anyone can playcombatant is another reason that why table tennis is the most popular sport in China. It can be enjoyed by both the rich and the poor. The only real equipment needed is a ping pong ball. A ping pong table is 圣光调息法very easy to make, and it doesn't u much space. For this reason, almost all the schools, factories and office buildings have a few tables to let people play table tennis. People can play the game whenever they take a break or need to kill some time. Also, table tennis lets Chine people begin to like sports, and this makes Chine people healthier and more confident than before.
To sum up, table tennis is the frozennational sport of China, and it has created a diplomatic wonder that change the relationship between America and China. Also, it is easy and convenient to play table tennis. So I think table tennis will become more and more popular chinatodayin China in the future.
