For 5 years, Arup is the fagade consultant on OoEli project. We provided the full fagade consultancy
rvices for this project, Including preliminary design, detailed design for tender, tender asssment and construction administration.
For this project, Renzo's design is to create an unique green urban plaza within this development. The fagade is to be a simple modular design with an industrial quality, but carefully crafted with intricate detailing, to complement this project but not overshadowing it. Upholding the design inspiration created by Renzo himlf, along with attention to details, is RPBW's design goal. Although the exterior wall design may em "simple", the design detailing and its implementation are both sophisticated and challenging. The fagade modules that face outward from the site maintain the narrow-width windows modules, typically associated with RPBW's design approach, while the plaza-facing fagades have wider/larger windows to better to connect with and appreciate the urban plaza within.
Every architect wish for the final result of their design to be appreciated by the end ur and the general public. For RPBW, the fagade detailing that is both mechanically functional and aesthetically refined is key. However, achieving high-quality workmanship is always a challenge in China, especially for bespoke fagade system designs that are uncommon. Although most of Arup project utilized bespoke fagade systems that shares similar mullion or transom design, each system is slight
ly different and requires new profiles to realize the architect's specific needs pertaining to detailing. Arup's dedication in refining the details through design development is always in practice in the work that we do and is limited only by the architect's aspirations.

天目里的立面外观要追求与整体设计相和谐的金属冓墙外观。我们忠于最初的设计意图,没有替换材料或对幕墙表面进行处理,而是杷主要的时间 和精力放在研究不同的阳极氧化铝板的技术上,就常规的项目来说,业主一般不会投入大璗资源来解决一个问题,但是天目里的业主及管理方鼎力支持 制造商尝试不同的技术方式去实验设计落地的可能性。虽然压型阳极氧化铝板确实花费了非常多的资源与时间来实现,但这是该项目独特的设计特色之 一,奥雅纳很自豪为此做出了贡献。

Creating a homogeneous metal-fagade appearance for this project is the key goal. The time and efforts spent studying the different techniques to produce the anodized aluminum cladding, instead o
f adopting a different material, finish or form, is a testament to the dedication in staying true to the original design intent. Typically, the client's would not have the determination to dedicate much resource in solving just one problemwould regress, but they also invested in this effort by supporting the fabricators to test out different techniques. The stamped anodized aluminum panel did take much resources and time to realize but it is one of the most unique design features of this project, which Arup is proud to have contributed to.
Prerving the material quality of the metal is very important to RPBW and lecting natural anodizing, to form a hard and clear protective layer over the metal, allows the natural aluminum expression to be displayed. The contours or "ribs" sculpted onto the metal panels were carefully dimensioned and oriented to best manipulate the light, under reflection and shadow, to add a distinctive texture to this
monochromatic surface.

单3虫实现铝原色的阳极氧化效果或在铝板表面增加轮廊纹理,在技术上都不难实现但要同时实现这两种效果,就会给设计扣材料选择带来相当大 的挑战.而当时国内非常缺少具有相关经验的生产商,要追求最佳的自然氧化外观,需要持殊等级的5000系列铝合金板但这种板材相对比较坚硬,不太适合冷压成型•与项目需求存在冲突《为了解决这个问题.奧雅纳的设计师和材料专家一起指定了合适的合金'阳极氧化要求和生产技术,协助中 国制造商研究这种板材
在业主对RPBWiS计理念的全力支持下,在一年多的时间里,项目管理和设计团队咨洵了〗〇多家铝板生产商,与不同的制造商合作,研究不同的 生产工艺,探索“超塑性成形”技术.重新研究不同等级的合金材料,探讨每个问题的生产限制.最终得出解决方案。不过令人遗憾的是,由于很难在 中国国内采购到高品质的特定合金板,加上国内阳扱氧化工艺的稳定性还略有欠缺.这款压型阳扱氧化铝板最终从德国采购To create a natural anodizing finish or add contouring texture to the aluminum surfaces is not particularly challenging if realized parately by themlves.However,when combined,it caud considerable challenges.The challenges were difficult to tackle due to lack of experienced fabricators in China in both process.To achieve the best natural anodizing appearance,a special grade of 5000ries aluminum alloy is needed.However, 5000aluminum alloy is relatively hard and not as ductal for cold forming,which conflicts with the profile forming we needed for this project.To find a solution to this problem,we worked with our material scientist to specify the appropriate alloy, a
nodizing requirements and production techniques to aid the Chine fabricators in the production of the cladding panel.
With full support from the client on RPBW's design vision,the project team push forward with this goal.For over a year,project management and design team consulted more than 10 aluminum panel production facilities,worked with various fabricators and fabrication techniquesjncluding"super plastic forminqM technologies,revisit particular grades of alloy materials,studied production limitations for each issue before arriving at the final solution.Due to procurement issue within China with high quality alloy and the average quality of the local anodizing,the anodized contoured aluminum panel was eventually procured from Germany.

To meet the local regulation and budget constraints, the fagade design also gone through different iterations. For example, RPBW typically prefers to u very transparent glass for other international projects. For OdEli, summer heat-gain and light reflectance of the glass has to be carefully evaluated and lected to meet Chine regulations. To achieve a balance, very transparent glass was ud on the ground floor but IGU, with solar control low-e coating, was ud on 2nd floor fagade and above. After thermal analysis was done, the glass specifications were nt to the glass manufacturers for sampling. Glass suppliers offered multiple 300millimeters x 300millimeters glass s
amples for the architect to lect from, which gone through many rounds of lection and elimination process. Bad on the visual qualities of the coated glass and its reflectivity and appearance from the adjacent surroundings, RPBW narrowed down to a few samples, which were eventually ud on the ful 卜size mock-up for further evaluations.
