[2021·太原市高三年级模拟考试]Some time ago, in my class I was about to fail a student for his answer to a physics question when the student claimed he derved a better score. The examination question sounded “safe”, “Show how it is possible to determine the height of a tall building with the aid of a barometer (气压表).”病梅馆记翻译 The student had answered, “Take the barometer to the top of the building, attach a long rope to it, lower the barometer to the street, and then bring it up, measuring the length of the rope. The length of the rope is the height of the building.”
I argued that a high grade should prove his competence in physics, but the answer did not confirm this. I suggested that the student have another try. Immediately, he worked out his answer: A cond best way is to take the barometer to the top of the building. Drop the barometer, timing its fall with a stopwatch. Then, using the formula to calculate the height of the building.
I was shocked by his answer. His method gave me not only a broken barometer but a Uturn in my teaching philosophy. I gave him full marks.
On his leaving my office, I recalled that he suggested there could be a better answer. So I asked him what it was. “沈阳英语翻译Oh, yes,” said the student. honey是什么意思英文“There are many ways. Probably the best,” he said, “is to take the barometer to the bament and ask the superintendent (大楼的管理人). You speak to him as follows, ‘Mr. Superintendent, here I have a fine barometer. If you tell me the height of this building, I will give it to you.’”
glonassAt this point, I asked the student if he really did not know the conventional answer to this question. He admitted that he did, but said that he was fed up with high school instructors' trying to teach him how to think, and how to u the socalled “scientific method”. He just wanted to solve the problem in a practical manner, not just answer the question in an expected way. Hearing this, I really had nothing to do but give the boy a firm handshake, feeling thankful that I hadn't failed him in the first place and even more thankful that neither had he.

[2021·洛阳市第三次统一考试]Most solar panels acquire sunlight from only one side, meaning they can acquire more or less of it depending on where the sun is in the sky. In recent years, they've become far more effective typically turning around 22 percent of the light they acquire into energy. In a new study published in the journal Joule on Tuesday, scientists put forth a way to increa that percentage even higher: doublesided solar panels that can move to follow the sun.
Basically, the panels can acquire sunlight from not only their sunfacing side but also from the light reflected off the ground onto their dark undersides. At the same time, a GPS allows them to move on an axis from east to west in order to always be pointed at a best angle to acquire the sun's rays. Though doublesided solar panels and sunfollowing solar panels are both in u currently, models that combine the two technologies aren't widely available for commercial u. Solar experts predict explosive growth in the market soon, though.
The study authors determined that the twosided suntracking panels produce an averag
e of 35 percent more energy than immobile singlepanel systems, and are 16 percent more costefficient. That holds true even when changes in weather conditions are considered.
“This means that investing in doublesided and tracking systems should be a safe bet for the foreeable future,” Carlos D. RodríguezGallegos, the study's lead author said.
The same warnings for solar panels and their effect on the local environment apply to the doublesided, moving systems as well, if not more so. Lead ud in solar panels can be one source of local pollution, and Dustin Mulvaney, an associate professor of environmental studies, told criminal什么意思Earther in an email doublesided panels could mean “twice as much lead as traditional solar systems”.
