ABSTRACT
Science fiction is a literary genre which came into being along with the ri of the industrial civilization. Many of the science fiction works written by western authors have gained popularity among Chine readers thanks to translation. Meanwhile, although a number of outstanding science fiction works have emerged in contemporary China, western readers know little about Chine science fiction. This is partly due to inadequate and poor translation. Accurate, idiomatic and smooth translations will be of great help to the worldwide spreading and popularizing of high-quality Chine science fiction works. On the other hand, science fiction texts prent both lexical features of abundant scientific and technological terms as well as coinages, and syntactic difficulties commonly shared in translation practices. All the have been proved to be major translation difficulties of this translation project.
This translation report is on the complete translation project of The Straying Earth, a science fiction short story written by Liu Cixin, one of the leading writers of Chine science fiction. The translator us CAT (computer-aided translation) tools in the whole process of translation to ensure the validity and consistency of scientific terms, and takes the “translation shift” theory put forward by Catford as th

1. INTRODUCTION
Science fiction is a new form of modern fictional literature originated from the west which mainly portrays imaginary and possible influences brought about on the society or individuals by the development of science and technology. Although the plots in science fictions are unlikely to happen in the actual world familiar to people, they are mostly bad on assumptions of the human race or the origin of the univer, or fictional discoveries in science and technology. Through visualizing and predicting possible conquences of the development of science and technology, science fiction probes the esnce of humanity and the value of human being itlf. Believe it or not, more and more things described in works of science fiction are becoming true in real life. As one of the most widely liked popular literature genres in the contemporary western world, the influence and sales volumes of science fiction are only cond to adventure novels and detective novels.
1.1 Liu Cixin and The Straying Earth

Many of his novels and short stories have been quite popular in the Chine literary circle. e that the Award was granted to an Asian writer, which was undoubtedly a significant step for Chine science fiction to step into the world arena. The Straying Earth is one of the reprentative works by Liu Cixin. In 2000, the short story won him the Grand Prize of Galaxy Award, the highest honor given to the Chine writers who reprent the highest level of science fiction writing in mainland China. Yan Feng, professor of Chine literature at Fudan University, not only wrote the foreword for Liu’s collection of award-winning short stories including The Straying Earth, but also gave a high appraisal to Liu for “having alleviated Chine science fiction to the world-class level” (2008, p. iv). As the deputy editor of Science Fiction World, the most circulated science fiction magazine all around the world, Yao Haijun praid the collection as “an exhibition hall on the light year scale constructed by Liu Cixin with great vigor” (2008, p. iv). Compared with The Three Body Problem trilogy, The Straying Earth is shorter and more readable. It opens a show window for foreign readers to get to know Chine science fiction.
1.2 Management of the Translation Project
Translation project management is a rvice-oriented branch of learning. Carrying out scientific and effective managing and maintaining for a translation project “not only enhances the rvice quality, but also is an important way to normalize and standardize the translation industry” (Cui & Luo, 2016, p. 15). Project management is especially crucial to translation teams containing multiple members, as the team leader needs to synchronize the working pace and language u of each team member. Since there is only one translator involved in the translating process of The Straying Earth, the project management here focus mainly on time control.
Bad on the “Translation and quality assurance steps in the bilingual publication production cycle” and the “Work load for project management of cover-to-cover biomedical journal translation” tables propod by Kerans (2005, p. 224), Table 1.1 shows the working schedule for the translation project of The Straying Earth.

monomerIt can be en from Table 1.1 that the translation project takes around 6 months in all. Most of the time is devoted to translating the source text into target text; after that, there is also reasonable time for quality control.
1.3 Significance of the Translation Project
In order to introduce more Chine science fictions to the world, competent translators are needed to produce high-quality translations. Sadly, relatively few Chine scholars have carried out rearch on the translation of science fiction works; in addition, little attention has been paid to the English translation of Chine science fictions, either. Aiming at solving such practical problems, this translation report looks into the term management difficulties encountered during C-E translation of science fiction works and tries to ek solutions by using SDL Trados Studio，a Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tool to ensure the accuracy and consistency of term translation.
