语言点:once一旦,引导的是时间状语从句,the fact that 。。。是一个同位语从句,具体解释fact的内容。Matter在这里是动词,重要的意思。

2. Instead they moan more or less incessantly, noisily or subtly, about the enormity of their problems, their burdens, and their difficulties as if life were generally easy, as if life should be easy.

语言点:本句中的as if后面用的仍然是虚拟语气,非真实情况。

6. What makes life difficult is that the process of confronting and solving problems is a painful one.
译文:生活的艰辛之处就在于,面对困难,解决困难的过程是痛苦的,
语言点:What makes life difficult 主语从句做句子的主语;that后面的是一个表语从句;其中the process of confronting and solving problems是从句的主语。
7. Problems, depending upon their nature, evoke in us frustration of grief, sadness, loneliness, guilt,
regret, anger, fear, anxiety, anguish, or despair.
