Whenever my nineyearold daughter approached me, eyes wide, with a notebook and a pen, telling me she wanted to engage in a game of school, something inside me froze. There was a mental block so huge that it felt like I was being asked by Elon Musk to make a prentation about artificial intelligence. So, nine times out of ten, I made an excu.

Why is it so hard to play with my child? I realize this is becau I have no idea how to play. I have many happy memories of my youth, but absolutely none involves playing with dolls or building blocks with my parents. I don't blame them becau they never played with the things as children either. When I ask them what their own childhoods were like, my dad tells me a story about being locked in a cupboard, while my mum recalls the box of buttons she was told to amu herlf with.
There are studies showing how important play is for a child's growth, and no end of people campaigning for their young to get more of it at school. The poet Michael Ron argues play is not an extra and all of us, whatever age, could do with more silliness in our lives.
As Ron explains, “The need for adults to be productive members of society means we end up thinking of things that make us laugh, or which are fun to do,as not being very significant or having very little value.” This is exactly why we need to play more. It lightens the load of life and allows us to get back to a childlike state of wonder.
Play is vital to health. And it is why I've started playing school games with my daughter. I managed an entire hour and a half the other day—and afterwards, felt happy and 20 years younger.

In Spain, children and their families are riding bikes to school together in large groups. The program is called “bicibús” or the bike bus. In Barcelona, the program started recently with only five children and grew quickly to hundreds of riders.

This fall, children in the Eixample area of Barcelona have a new way to get to school on Fridays—they ride their bikes. In September, a group of five children began biking to school with their parents on Fridays. Soon the group grew to 150 or more. The bike bus begins around 8:25 every Friday morning. The path it will follow is always posted ahead of time, so everyone knows where to join.

Instead of riding in bike lanes (车道) or on sidewalks, the bicibús takes up the entire street. The commute (上下班路程) of the bikers takes about 25 minutes. And with the evergrowing cycling and skating kids taking part in this bike bus culture, the local police are helping stop traffic by riding in front of the bicibús and behind it. This further makes the parents happy that the additional curity means their children will travel safely to school.

With music playing and bike bells ringing, the bicibús feels like a party. “The best part of the bicibús is that we ride along and pick up our friends and we ride together,” nineyearold María Pitarch says.
Some parents have made the bicibús the way they get to work on Fridays. Parents are hoping that the bicibús will help change ideas about how people can get around in the city. They want the city to create wider, kidfriendly bike lanes that are parate from vehicle lanes. They point out that the bicibús also helps cut down on pollution.
Recently, pictures and videos of the Eixample bicibús got a lot of attention on social media. Many people pointed out what a simple idea it is, and how easy it is to get started. Already some other areas in Barcelona are also organizing bike bus.
5.What can we learn about the bicibús?
