中餐的名称大体可以划分为五大类:

第一、第二和第三类菜名翻译起来并不十分困难,基本上都可以直译;第四类以意译为主,第五类一般不宜直译,最好采用汉语拼音加注的办法。
翻译菜单的主要原则是力求简明准确,能够说明菜肴的内容,能够使外国人明白就行了。在准确的前提下,尽量把菜名翻译得优美一些会更好。但是,难度很大。
