I am an art student and I paint a lot of pictures. Many people pretend that they understand modern art. They always tell you what a picture is 'about'. Of cour, many pictures are not 'about' anything. They are just pretty patterns. We like them in the same way that we like pretty curtain material. I think that young children often appreciate modern pictures better than anyone el. They notice more. My sister is only ven, but she always tells me whether my pictures are good or not. She came into my room yesterday.
'What are you doing?' she asked.
'I'm hanging this picture on the wall,' I answered. 'It's a new one. Do you like it?'
She looked at it critically for a moment. 'It's all right,' she said, 'but isn't it upside down?'

⑴宾语从句
①主语＋谓语＋that引导的宾语从句(宾语从句前的that可以无条件省略)

老师建议每个学生在清晨时大声朗读英语。
特别提示：
1.在及物动词和宾语从句之间有时可以加上状语或间接引语。
例句：He said once again that the meeting was very important. 他又一次讲到这次会议很重要。
例句：The chairman explained to us that the hall could not hold more than 200 people.
主席向我们解释这个会议厅可容纳的人数不能超过200。
2.如果那个that引导的宾语从句并列，第一个that可以省略，第二个that则必须保留。
例句：He said he would solve the trouble and that you could put your mind at rest.
他说他会解决那个麻烦，你可以放心。
②主语＋谓语＋what等特殊疑问词引导的宾语从句(宾语从句是特殊疑问句时，从句用陈述句语序)
例句：The teacher explained why the cond choice was right. 老师解释为什么第二个选项是对的。
例句：I will tell you which one I prefer. 我会告诉你我更喜欢哪一个。
例句：The traffic police told us how we could get to the railway station.
交警告诉我们可以如何到达火车站。
特别提示：谓语后面用when或where引导的从句，有时是宾语从句，有时是状语从句
区别的关键：宾语从句是句子不可缺少的部分；状语从句是修饰谓语动词的，可有可
无。
例句：He has told his girlfriend where he was born.
他告诉过他的女朋友他的出生地。(宾语从句，“告诉”的对象)保险杠修复
例句：He met his girlfriend where he was born. What a destiny!
他在他的出生地遇见了他的女朋友，真是缘分。(状语从句，“遇见”的地点状语)
③主语＋谓语＋whether/if引导的宾语从句(宾语从句是一般疑问句时，从句用陈述句语序)
例句：I wonder if he is qualified for the job. 我想知道他能不能胜任这个工作。
例句：I don’t know whether he understand me. 我不知道他是否理解我。
特别提示：whether可以同or not连用，if则不行。当or not放在句末时，whether和if都可用。
