Unit6
Direction
New Year’s Day has always been the time when people look ahead and hope for the luck they want. Long ago, in many cultures, people thought they could affect the luck they would have in the coming year by what they did or ate on the first day of the year. For that reason, it has become common for people to spend the New Year’s Day with their family members. Even today people still believe that anything in the shape of ring is good luck, and that if the first visitor on New Year’s Day is a tall dark-haired man, it will bring good luck to the rest of the year.
