This standard specifies general tolerances for non-enamelled metal columns predominantly ud in process engineering applications. The general tolerances specified here only apply where reference is made to this standard on technical drawings or other relevant documents (e.g. technical delivery conditions) in the form described in clau 2. Drawings are considered incomplete when they do not include a reference to a general tolerances standard, even where the dimensions are not toleranced (this requirement does not apply to drawings indicating auxiliary dimensions only).sgt
The general tolerances can be maintained using customary workshop equipment and practices.

2Designation and indications on drawings

Columns are not expected to conform to the designs illustrated here; compliance is only required for the general tolerances as specified or agreed upon.
caterpillarsThe dimensions specified in this standard refer to generating and datum lines, angular deviations to the center line in elevation and plan. Dimensions of nozzles are specified with reference to the raid faces.
The datum line (e DIN 28011 and DIN 28013) shall be clearly marked or punched on the column. It shall be indicated on all drawings and be visible on the finished column.
For standardized mi-finished products, e.g. pipes, flanges, lifting elements, the permissible deviations specified in the relevant standards shall apply.
For the dimensions not individually toleranced in this standard, accuracy grade D as specified in DIN 8570 shall apply as the general tolerance.
