The Old Man and the Sea was the last major work of fiction produced by Hemingway and published in his lifetime, which is about an old fisherman named Santiago. The story is that Santiago fight with the sharks on the return voyage after he subdued the marlin.

He made up his mind to fight with the big fish and do everything he can to defeat it including cutting the other fishing lines. He succeeded in catching it after a fight of life and death. Unfortunately, sharks, drawn by the fishipam’s blood, soon come to the boat. Although the old man tried his best to kill the sharks, the sharks ate flesh down to the bone of the big fish.
From the story, we can e how brave the old man is. Although he was old enough to fish, he never still stop fishing. In the face of the sharks, he never still gave up killing them and protecting his prey.
