Teaching aims:

and phras; predicting bad on the title; scanning and reading between
the lines.

1. Fast-reading to get the main idea of the text.

Teaching Procedures:
Stage 1 Pre-reading
Step 1: Lead-in:
海床1. Students look at the pictures displayed, discuss about the different kinds of relationship between neighbours.
2. Show students a video clips, answer the following questions:
Do you like Rock music? What if your neighbour is a drummer and plays music loudly at midnight? Then introduce the topic of the first passage.
(Intention: Multi-media is going to make the class vivid and arou
students’ interest and lead in the topic “conflict in a community”. )
Step 2: Prentation:
Introduce some new words, phras and a ntence pattern to class.
(Intention: To provide uful new words and phras so as to get students linguistically ready for reading )
Stage 2 While-reading
Step 1: Students skim the first newspaper report and then answer :
Who side are you on, the drummer’s or neighbours’ ? Why ?
(Intention: to develop students’ thinking ability and analysis ability. It also develops the students’ mind from the brainstorm)

Read the title and the 1st paragraph, then guess its meaning.

Read the cond report and answer following questions.
