Overview（概述）
Spinal cord stimulation(also called SCS) us electrical impuls to relieve chronic pain of the back, arm and legs. It is believed that electrical puls prevent pain signals from being recerved by the brain. SCS candidates include people who suffer from neuropathic pain and for whom conrvative treatments have failed.
脊髓电刺激仪（Spinal cord stimulation，SCS )使用电脉冲来缓解背部、胳膊和下肢的慢性疼痛。据信，电脉冲信号可以阻止大脑接收疼痛信号。脊髓电刺激仪植入术适用于那些遭受神经病理性疼痛以及保守治疗无效的病人。
Trial Implantation（试验性安装）
The injection site is anesthetized. One or more insulated wire leads are inrted through an epidural needle or through a small incision into the space surrounding the spinal cord, called the epidural space.
注射部位予局部麻醉。通过硬膜外穿刺针或局部小切口将一根或多根绝缘电线头插入到脊髓周围的空间，即硬膜外腔。
Find the Right Location（寻找正确位置）
Electrodes at the end of the lead produce electrical puls that stimulate the nerves, blocking pain signals. The patient gives feedback to help the physician determine where to place the stimulators to best block the patient's pain. The leads are connected to an external trial stimulator, whick will be ud for approximately one week to determine if SCS will help the patient.

Determine Effectiveness（明确效果）
If the patient and the physician determine that the amount of pain relief is acceptable, the system may be permanently implanted. At the end of the trial implantation, the leads are removed.

The permanent implantation may be performed while the patient is under dation or under general anesthesia. A small incision is made in the lower back so that the surgeon can access the lamina, the bone that protects the nerve roots and spinal cord.

Removing the Lamina（去除椎板）
The surgeon removes a portion of the lamina. This will make space for inrtion of the permanent lead.

Inrting the Lead（插入电极）
The paddle lead is pasd through the opening in the lamina and into the epidural space. The surgeon confirms correct placement of the lead through the u of an x-ray device called a fluoroscope.
通过椎板的开口将桨式电极放到硬膜外腔。术者用称为透视的X线设备来确认电极位置放置正确。
Generator Implantation（植入电刺激发生器）
Next, a small incision is created, and the implantable pul generator(IPG)battery is positioned beneath the skin. It is most often implanted in the buttocks or the abdomen. The leads are then connected to the IPG battery.

End of Procedure（手术结束）
