寻找大象
在大山的深处，一个偏僻的村庄，有一个被遗弃的采石场，在采石场的附近住着一位老人，他能够用石头雕刻出最精美的大象。人们从世界各地来到这个大山深处的偏僻小村，花钱购买老人的大象，博物馆将他的作品列为正品展示给参观者。

很多雕刻家都试图雕刻出与之媲美的大象，但都没有成功，因为老人的大象非常强健，同时又显得非常温和、智慧、庄严和快乐，没有人能够雕刻出这样的大象。

“我的孩子，”老人说到，“我无法教你怎样雕刻大象，我只能告诉你怎样去雕刻石头。”

一连几个月，他跟随老人每天一早就到采石场去，他们整天在那里敲打石头。
时间流逝，春天来了又走了。年轻人学会了很多过去闻所未闻的石雕手艺。在一个强爽的夜晚，秋天的落叶在微风起舞，老人对年轻人说：“你已经学得很好了，我的孩子，你现在的切割、雕刻、磨光技术和我一样精湛，我已经没有什么技术能教给你了。”年轻人知道自己还是不会雕刻精美的大象，所以他说：“可是我还有些东西没有学会，就让我在跟您学一个季节吧！”
于是，当凛冽的寒风有一次在烟筒边呼啸，当冰雪再一次覆盖了大地，老人和年轻人开始在工棚里工作。工棚里满是从采石场运来的石头。老人长时间凝视着这些石头。
“您在做什么？”年轻人问。
“我在寻找大象。”老人缓缓地说，“这里有一头，另外这里也有一头。”他说着，用手遮着那三块石料。年轻人把这块石头看了又看，但是他只看到石头。
