二、Part Ⅱ Reading Comprehension (总题数:4,分数:40.00)
Questions 15 to 19 are bad on the following passage.
The biggest safety threat facing airlines today may not be a terrorist with a gun , but the man with the portable computer in business class. In the last 15 years, pilots have reported well over 100 incidents that could have been caud by electromagnetic interfer
ence. The source of this interference remains unconfirmed, but increasingly, experts are pointing the blame at portable electronic devices such as portable computers, radio and castte players and mobile telephones. RTCA, an organization which advis the aviation (航空) industry, has recommended that all airlines ban (禁止) such devices from being ud during "critical" stages of flight, particularly take-off and landing. Some experts have gone further, calling for a total ban during all flights. Currently, rules on using the devices are left up to individual airlines. And although some airlines prohibit pasngers from using such equipment during take-off and landing, most are reluctant to enforce a total ban, given that many pasngers want to.
The difficulty is predicting how electromagnetic fields might affect an aircraft's computers. Experts know that portable devices emit radiation which affects tho wavelengths which aircraft u for navigation and communication. 8ut, becau they have not been able to reproduce the effects in a laboratory, they have no way of knowing whether the interference might be dangerous or not.
The fact that aircraft may be vulnerable (易受损的) to interference rais the risk that terr
orists may u radio systems in order to damage navigation equipment. As worrying, though, is the pasnger who can't hear the instructions to turn off his radio becau the music's too loud.

Questions 20 to 24 are bad on the following passage.
Shyness is the cau of much unhappiness "for a great many people. Shy people are anxious and lf-conscious; that is, they are excessively concerned with their own appear
ance and actions. Worrisome thoughts are constantly occurring in their minds: What kind of impression am 1 making? Do they like me? Do I sound stupid? Am I wearing unattractive clothes?
It is obvious that such uncomfortable feelings must affect people adverly. A person's lf-concept is reflected in the way he or she behaves, and the way a person behaves affects other people's reactions. In general, the way people think about themlves has a profound effect on all areas of their lives.
Shy people, having low lf-esteem, are likely to be passive and easily influenced by others. They need reassurance that they are doing "the right thing". Shy people are very nsitive to criticism; they feel it confirms their inferiority. They also find it difficult to be plead by compliments becau they believe they are unworthy of prai. A shy person may respond to a compliment with a statement like this one: "You're just saying that to make me feel good. I know it's not true." It is clear that, while lf-awareness is a healthy quality, overdoing it is harmful.
Can shyness completely eliminated, or at least reduced? Fortunately, people can overco
me shyness With determined and patient effort in building lf-confidence. Since shyness goes hand in hand with lack of lf-esteem, it is important for people to accept their weakness as well as their strengths. For example, most people would like to be "A" students in every subject. It is not fair for them to label themlves inferior becau they have difficulty in some areas. People's expectations of themlves must be realistic. Living on the impossible leads to a n of inadequacy.
Each one of us is a unique, worthwhile individual. We are interested in our own personal ways. The better we understand ourlves, the easier it becomes to live up our full potential. Let's not allow shyness to block our chances for a rich and fulfilling life.
