fleming–tamao oxidation机理
Fleming-Tamao Oxidation Mechanism
美白小窍门1. Introduction
Fleming-Tamao Oxidation (FTO) is a process ud in organic chemistry to oxidize alcohols to aldehydes or ketones. In this reaction, palladium catalysts are ud in combination with t-butyl hydroperoxide as the oxidant. This reaction can either be done in the prence of solvent or with anhydrous conditions. Although not widely ud, the Fleming-Tamao oxidation process offers an efficient, mild, and milder oxidizing alternative compared to other oxidation process.
gary2. Mechanism
The basic Fleming-Tamao oxidation mechanism consists of three steps, which takes place in two phas – the oxidation pha and the reduction pha.
In the first oxidation pha, the alkene group is oxidized by the catalyst and t-butyl hydroperoxide, producing an organic hydroperoxy compound. This hydroperoxy compound then reacts with palladium, forming a complex between the palladium and the hydroperoxy compound.wxga

In the cond pha, the complex first reduces the hydroperoxy compound using electrons from the alcohol, which results in an aldehyde or ketone, depending on the exact conditions ud.
3. Us
Currently, the Fleming-Tamao Oxidation has been primarily ud to convert condary alcohols to ketones, tertiary alcohols to aldehydes, and aromatic alcohols to benzaldehydes. Moreover, this reaction can be ud to functionalize bio-polymers, making it uful in synthesizing new biomaterials or analogs of peptides.
In addition, this reaction is also ud as a milder and more efficient alternative to the Swe
rn oxidation. Furthermore, it offers the advantage of being run in aqueous solvents, making it more compatible with the metal compound catalysts. 上海服装设计学院

4. Benefits
The Fleming-Tamao oxidation reaction has veral advantages compared to other oxidation process. It provides a milder and faster reaction than the Swern oxidation, and produces fewer by-products than the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation. Moreover, this reaction is tolerant to a variety of functional groups, and is easy to scale up in industrial ttings.

Unfortunately, the Fleming-Tamao oxidation process also has some disadvantages. One of the main issues with this reaction is the fact that it is not compatible with all alcohols. Secondary, ortho-substituted alcohols, and highly electron-withdrawing are not suitable substrates for this reaction, as they tend to be less reactive under the required reaction conditions.
无知是什么意思
Another issue with this reaction is the fact that it requires a specific palladium catalyst to run, as well as expensive t-butyl hydroperoxide reagents.
In conclusion, the Fleming-Tamao oxidation provides a milder and more efficient oxidation than other available alternatives, though it does have some limitations.
