Ca 表壳 | The ca is the body that hous the watch movement. It s usually made up of three parts: middle, bezel, and back. Cas come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Bezel表圈 | The Bezel is the component on the ca encircling the dial. It can be a parate piece or made as part of the ca (less expensive). If there is a bezel on the watch plea specify whether it is fixed or rotating (can be turned). If there are stones on the bezel plea detail whether tting is glued (on alloy) or prong t (brass jewelry watches). This offers the movement little to no protection from outside contaminants. A "screw back" is a back with finely cut threads. It then is screwed into the watch ca. When it is heated, the synthetic sapphire forms round mass that are sliced into pieces with diamond-coated saws. The disks are then ground and polished into watch crystals. It measures 9 on the Mohs scale, which is a system for rating the relative hardness of various materials. (Diamond measures 10, the highest rating.) Watch crystals made of synthetic sapphire are often marketed as "scratch resistant", meaning they are very difficult - but not impossible - to scratch. Diamonds can scratch them; so can man-made materials that incorporate silicon carbide, with, with a Mohs rating of between 9 and 10, is, like diamond, harder than sapphire. The materials are sometimes ud to make simulated-stone surfaces for furniture or walls.
