FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
WIRE ROPE AND STRAND
The General Services Administration has authorized the u of this federal
specification by all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Scope. This specification covers wire ropes and wire izing strands (e 6.1). This specification does not include all types, class, constructions, and sizes of wire rope and strand that are commercially available, but it is intended to cover the more common types, class, constructions, and sizes that are suitable for federal government u.
1.2 Classification.
1.2.1 Types, class, constructions, and sizes. Wire ropes and wire izing strands covered by this specification shall be of the following types, class, constructions, and sizes as specified (e 6.2 (b)). For general rules for lection of wire rope and strand, e 6.3 and the Wire Rope Urs Manual. For wire rope and strand definitions and terms, e 6.4 and the Wire Rope Urs Manual.
