No doubt,this characteristic of small talk is the main cau of suspicion and contempt.Concerned inquiries,desire for no answers,lf-evident obrvations,repetitive repetition and monotonous cycles.No wonder such conversations are often associated with tedious or falhood.
Chatting with someone we just know is a necessary formality,but chatting with people we already know is in a n suggesting that it goes to the point of"nothing to say about it."However,if gossip is just boring,irrelevant,and nonn with no clear purpo,then what is most gossip between couples,friends,especially relatives?Perhaps mediocre chatter doesn't always irrelevant.Often ordinary little things,such as missing bus,eating something for lunch,or just buying new clothes,constitute the bulk of the daily conversation between clo friends.You know,this kind of trivia conversation may only happen to the people around us.--only the people in a small circle around us will take the
trouble to share the details of our life.
There are veral things that can be irrelevant among friends.For example,there is a notable species known as chewing or bullshit,talking,etc.This kind of aimless conversation is mostly arbitrary jokes,and its meaning is not so much in the theme than in the function.Moreover,chatting is often fun and undoubtedly an art,and the best gossip and gossip can repeat any emingly insignificant topic.
So,if anyone is interested in small talk,besides linguists interested in discour analysis or philology,interpersonal marketing giants are interested in improving interpersonal skills.There are almost certainly not many people in the former category,and the latter category ems to be best at the art of chatting,with one creating a uful and memorable opening line:"If you can play back a certain point in your life,which moment will you play back?"
