Statement of Interest
I am really interested in the manufacturing of mechanical engineering, especially modeling the effects of material properties. This interest dates back to my early childhood. I was born in “Eastern Ruhr”- XXX in China, which is an industrial city. It is a great honor for me to work in the manufacturing area, by the influence of my father who is a factory director. With this mind, I attended Mechanical Engineering Department in University of XXXX, which is the best university in iron and steel industry area. In the final year, I stood out from the other candidates and was lected to join an exchange program to XXXXX. Four years of extensive study inspired me to undertake a greater challenge in pursuing a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering. My aspiration to be a professor also makes graduate study an absolute necessity.
As an undergraduate student, I specialized in mechanics, computer skills and practice projects. I diligently studied the cours such as Theoretical Mechanics, XXXXX that helped me developed the fundamentals of manufacturing, theoretical analysis and physical
modeling. In my junior year I combined the theoretical study with practices in XXXXX and XXXXX, during which I was proficient on the principle of work and the operation of all kinds of manufacturing machines including lathe, planer, grinding, lar cutting and CNC, EDM. I enjoyed the hand-on experiences immenly. However, the starting point that I was attracted crazily by the rearch of mechanical engineering is the study in XXX University. In Finite Element Analysis cour, I developed a stress analysis of a plate with 3 holes as a cour project. In addition to being elated by my explored the nsitivity of mesh sizes and mesh types on numerical modeling results using the FEA method (ANSYS), I was also plead with the computed values of the stress convergence and strain capacity which cloly agreed with theoretical values. What is more, I was familiar with the cutting progress, including tribology and material properties in Metal Removal cour, which offer me more passion on the study of this area. In the mean time, my final project is design, manufacturing and testing of the tup, which is specially working by pneumatic technology to measuring grinding wheel surfaces, that the results will be ud for the future rearch. From this project I develop a design from the special requirement of space and linear moving, and test the plant capacity utilization.
Accumulating the valuable experiences, I am preparing and hungry to a career in scientific rearch. Especially the experiments in XXXXX University lead me a strong mind to continue my master and PhD study here, for a rious and creative study attitude. Depending on the one-year study here, I believe that XXX University is the best place for me, and I am confident my diver rearch experiences combines with a firm commitment to mechanical engineering have merited me to be qualified to undertake graduate study at XXXX University.
