34033/64. Heading B3T. A box tool compris a mounting ction 2 adapted to be fitted to a lathe turret and located thereon by a spigot 7, a location ction 3 adjustably positioned on and bolted to the ction 2 (a tting piece, not shown, held in the lathe collet or chuck being ud to centre the bore 15 of the location ction 3 before it is finally bolted to the mounting ction 2), and a roller carrier part 4 which carries steady rollers 8, a toolholder 9 and tool 10 and is bolted to the location ction 3 and accurately located thereon by means of a spigot 5 and recess 6. The construction allows for tting up the tool and rollers of a spare carrier part off the lathe, i.e. on a bench fixture, so that if a carrier part has to be changed the replacement part merely requires to be bolted to the location ction 3 on the lathe. Frusto-conical rollers 8 make line contact with the work and are adjustable at right angles to their axes of rotation. The tool 10 is formed with a dovetail portion 14 and mounted thereby in an inclined position tangential to the work, in a tool-holder 9 which is itlf mounted on a main dovetail slide 13. In an alternative construction (Figs. 6, 7, not shown), the toolholder is rigidly bolted to the roller carrier part 4 and includes a tool bit of the throw-away type.
