（一）重点单词
1. expect v. 预料；预计
（1）表示“期待”“期望”，通常用作及物动词。如：
I’m expecting a telephone call from her. 我在等她的电话。
（2）还可以表示“预计”“预料”等。如：
I expect to be back on Sunday. /I expect that I will be back on Sunday. 我预计星期日回来。
（3）其后可接不定式或不定式的复合结构，但不能接动名词。如：
He expected her to go with him. 他期望她同他一起去。
（4）其后可接 that 从句，若从句谓语为否定，注意否定的转移。如：

2. require v. 需要

（三）重点句型

如何猝死
thanks to意为“幸亏有了……，多亏……”。thanks 是名词，其后的s不能省略。

Thanks to his help, we pass the exam easily. 多亏他帮忙，我们很容易过了考试。

It’s thought that…是被动结构，it作形式主语，代替真正的主语that从句。用于此类结构的动词有hope, believe, suggest, say, report等。如：

3. Eating too much of the wrong food will harm your health. 吃太多的不健康食物会损害你的健康。
too much意为“太多”，用作形容词后接不可数名词，而too many 后则接可数名词复数。如：
He drinks too much wine every day.他每天喝酒太多了。
【辨析】too much 和 much too
两者都表示“太”，too much后接不可数名词，而much too后面接形容词。
