Afford，Provide，Supply的辨析
Afford，provide插花艺术，supply 这三个动词都表示“提供”、“供给”。在涉及到金钱时，provide 往往意味着“免费供给”，而 supply 则一般不含此意。这两个词都不用双宾语，而要与 With 连用，来说明所提供的物品，即 provide / supply sb with sth或 provide / supply sth for sb.，supply 后的for可用to替代，provide 后的for不可用to替代。如：
译：发电厂为我们供电。
误：The power station supplies us electric power.
正：The power station supplies us with electric power.
正：The power station supplies electric power for / to us.
机修钳工 译：实习公司我对你为我提供的房子很满意。
误：l was very plead with the room you provided to me.
痰湿咳嗽正：I was very plead with the room you provided for me.
正：I was very plead with the room you provided me with.扦插嫁接
Afford 一般只用于抽象事物、与上两词不同，afford 后可接双宾语；与上文 supply 相同，可用丰都为什么被称为鬼城 afford sth to sb.的句型。如：
The book will afford you great pleasure.
The book will afford great pleasure to you.
（这本书会给你带来很大的乐趣。）
Afford 也可指“买得起”，“花得起（钱、时间等），在用这层意义时只能与 can 或 be able to 连用。如：
录像的英文Can you afford the expen可爱女生网名？
你能付这部分费用吗？
I can't afford two holidays a week.
我无法一周休息两天。
I can't afford to buy a car.
我买不起汽车。
