I was a newcomer in a class. So was Alice. That's where the similarities ended. I was tall and she was small. My thick, black hair had been recently cut short. Her natural blonde hair flowed to her waist and looked great. I was awkward and shy. She wasn't. I couldn't stand her. I considered her my enemy. She liked me. She wanted to be my friend.
One day, she invited me over and I said yes—I was too shocked to answer any other way. No one had invited me over to play. That's when we found out that we both wanted to be writers when we were older and we both had wild imaginations. We had a great day that afternoon. Our jaws ached from smiling so much. She showed me her wardrobe, which had mostly come from a clothing store down the block. The woman who owned it ud her as a model sometimes for her newspaper ads and gave her clothes in exchange.
Alice had the whole neighborhood charmed. The bookstore owners lent her fashion magazines, the movie theater gave her free pass and the pizza place let her have free slices. Soon I was included in her magic world. We slept over at each other's hous, and spent every free moment together. My dark hair grew out and I learned to love being tall.
Alice, my first real friend since childhood, taught me an amazing and very surprising thing about making friends that your worst enemy can turn out to be your best friend.

The Governor's School is described as a unique opportunity for high school students to involve themlves in math, science, and technology. When I signed up for computer programming, I expected to learn about coding (编程). However, what I didn't expect was that I would also learn how to build strong friendships.
Just before I went there, I didn't know what to expect in the school, feeling quite at a loss. A n of uncertainty about my future was flooding over me. On the first day, the students awkwardly moved around at the opening ceremonies. Although it is embarrassing to admit, I hadn't been able to succeed in my friendship in the past becau I was too focud on mylf. This time, I got rid of the desire to share personal stories and instead was eager to ask others about themlves.

We had a lot in common among us four, such as our love for movies, which strengthened our friendships. Meanwhile, we were able to introduce each other to new activities. Bree introduced us to anime (日本动漫). Enthusiastically, Megan encouraged us to play tennis. Avery and I kept the other two motivated to work out at the gym. The fact that none of us was particularly skilled with equipment resulted in shared laughter almost every day.
After four weeks, I left with the ability to successfully code an educational computer game. More importantly, I also left with knowledge about the code of friendship—the fact that I could make more friends in a month by showing interest in them than I could in a year by trying to attract others' interest in me.
