Black History Month
学生会退会申请This month marks the annual obrvance of Black History Month in America. It is an opportunity to shine a light on the remarkable achievements and contributions of African-Americans to our nation.
This celebration of African-American heritage began in 1975, when Barack Obama was born, and has been growing in scope ever since. Throughout the year, people throughout the United States come together to celebrate this rich history and its contemporary impact on all of us.
Throughout the history of our country, African-Americans have played a leading role in the struggle for freedom and justice. From the leadership of Frederick Douglass in the Abolitionist Movement, to the role of Martin Luther King, Jr. in the civil rights movement, African-Americans have long been on the forefront of the fight for equality in a nation bet by systemic racism and inequality.
Today, African-American art, music, literature, food, and language are celebrated throughout the country. African-Americans have also had a hand in shaping American politics, business, and science. This month we have the opportunity to celebrate, recognize, and honor the hard work and achievements of African-Americans throughout our nation's history.
As part of Black History Month, events, activities, and lectures are held nationwide to honor the African-American experience. From film screenings to lectures, live performances to discussions and debates, the types of events even draw crowds numbering in the thousands.
The true celebration of Black History Month comes not from obrving the great achievements of our past, but from committing to inspire the next generation and create a new story of success and prosperity. Whether it is in the sciences, arts, business, law, or politics, African-Americans are paving the way for a brighter future.
