1 instruction to claim:
Mistakes may occur in day-to-day business, and the give cau for complaint. There might have been a misunderstanding about the goods to be supplied; perhaps the warehou clerk made an error
in addressing the parcels; sometimes a consignment is dispatched too late or delays are caud in transit; damage may have occurred during delivery; a manufacturing defect is discovered when a machine is ud.
A disappointed customer cannot be put off with mere apologies---he is entitled to know how the mistake will be remedied, when he will receive the goods ordered; what he is to do with the wrong consignment or the damaged goods he received; when he will receive a replacement for hiss defective machine; or if it can be repaired quickly.
Ordinarily, the purpo of writing a letter of complaint is to get better rvice. The more specific your letter is ,the easier it will be for your correspondent to handle your complaint. Usually a claim or complaint letter follows the under-mentioned outline:
1 The opening states the problem and gives as much info. As possible.
2 The body gives, if any, additional info.----why it is necessary to write, why and how you are inconvenienced, etc.
3. The body also states what you want to be done--- What you consider a reasonable demand to satisfy your claim.

向某人提出索赔的常用句型是: lodge a claim against/with/on/upon somebody
除lodge 外，较常用的动词还有:rai, file, make ,issue, lay ,register, render, enbter, put in, bring up, t up 等
表示索赔的原因或金额，一般接介词for, ex claim for damage, claim for US10000
表示对某批货物的索赔，一般接介词on, ex. Claim on the goods
