Exchanging Data with Mechanical Designers
U MCAD Collaborator to transfer, record, manage, and preview change requests between the PC
B design team and the mechanical design team. Both teams can nd and receive proposals for mechanical design changes as well as accept or reject change proposals.

PADS Layout includes a collaboration tool that makes exchanging mechanical design information between the PCB and mechanical teams a simplified and reliable process.

You create change request files that highlight changes to the placement or design objects and excha
nge that data with the mechanical designers. They can review the propod changes, mark them “accepted” or “rejected”, and then pass that information back to you. The change process works in either direction so that either side can initiate a change request. The PADS Layout databa is automatically updated with any changes you accept from the mechanical designers.

The tool works in conjunction with PADS 3D. The PADS 3D window allows you to preview change requests in three dimensions and rotate the design through any angle or perspective. The views in the PADS 3D window are uful for checking vertical (Z-axis) clearance problems or other mechanical conflicts that might not be as apparent in the normal 2D workspace.

Mechanical Design Exchange/结构设计的变更
You start the exchange process by opening a collaboration ssion and submitting either a baline or a change data file to the mechanical design team (or they start the process by submitting their data file to you). The baline and change data files are in IDX format. The baline file updates the design with the changes; you do not have the option of rejecting the propod changes in a baline file. The side receiving a change request has the option of either accepting or rejecting the propod changes. Either side can then create and submit additional change requests by sharing new change data files.

You exchange the data files either by E-mail or by storing them in a common directory accessible by both teams. Either side can initiate a change, and the change request is approved or rejected by the other side. The tool saves and tracks the status of each change request so you have a continuous re
cord of what was done. Once a change request has been nt and received, you can clo the collaboration ssion.

Guidelines for Collaboration/合作指南/合作指导方针
To avoid potential problems when you exchange data files, be aware of the following guidelines:

●Obstructs defined as “both side symmetrical” or “both side non-symmetrical” are not
supported.

replaced with underscores. The automatic changes in the names are then marked as
modifications even though no design change has actually occurred.
