学会有关地震的知识，并能通过学习讨论懂得地震时的应急逃生，地震后如何科学救人和有关地震的形成和减少地震所造成的损失等一般知识。培养学生的合作意识和“合作学习”的习惯。欣赏课文中优美句子，了解一些英语修辞手法，使学生在学习完课文之后得到一次美的享受，一次心灵的愉悦和升华。
