The pumps are arranged in pairs, each pair connected in a hydraulic actuating circuit individual to that pair and each circuit including a piston-type actuator to be advanced and retracted by fluid under pressure developed from the paired pumps of that circuit. A single prime mover drives the pumps of both pairs, and each circuit has a pressure-responsive control valve which provides for unloading of one pump of the other circuit when the pressure in one circuit increas to a predetermined value at which, in the abnce of such unloading, the input horpower requirement has rin toward a value which would stall the prime mover.
