Teaching Procedure
Step 1: Opening up
1. Students think and fill in the word web
2. Students in group of 6 brainstorm activities for leisure time and words or phras to express preference. The teacher makes conclusion and asks students to talk about activities they like one by one in groups with different words or expressions to express preference. The last letter of each activity mentioned by one student should be the initial of the activity the next student will mention.
Step 2: Listening to the world
1. Sharing
Listen and finish the listening tasks
2. Listening
Students read the tips and get to know the “listening for specific information” skill with the
help from the teacher.
3. Viewing
Students read the program which introduces a person of art and finish the tasks.
4. An activity of describing a celebrity
1) By reading an introduction of a celebrity, students in groups work out the focus and uful ntence structures of it.
2) After the teacher makes conclusion, students in groups introduce, with the focus and uful ntence structures figured out, a celebrity given one after another in a line. Everyone should concentrate on the specific information while listening to others’ description. The last student
describes to the entire class.
Step 3: Speaking for communication

3. An activity of speaking skill practice—keeping a conversation going
1) Students read the tips and get to know 3 ways to keep a conversation going with the help of the teacher.
2) Students in group of 8 list all the activities they have done in the last weekend and discuss the questions they might be asked, extra information that could be added and comments that can be made.
3) Every two groups work together, and each member finds a partner in the other group to talk about the activities on their list. They u the 3 tips to keep their conversation goin
