Zhu Kezhen was born in Shao, Zhejiang Province in 1890. In 1909, he was admitted to school for study, went to the United States to study in 1910, and received a doctorate from Harvard University in 1918. In 1934, Zhu Kezhen, Weng Wenhao and Zhang Qiyun jointly founded the Chine geographical society. He has been the president of Zhejiang University for 13 years since April, 1936. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he rved as vice president of the China Association for science and technology, vice president of the Chine Academy of Sciences, chairman and honorary chairman of the China Meteorological Society, and chairman of the China geographical society. He was awarded honorary academician of the Romanian Academy of Sciences. In 1967, he was lected into the international who's who compiled and printed by the UK. On November 16th, 2008, it was rated as "China's top ten outstanding figures in science and technology communication". In June, 1962, he joined the Communist Party of China at the age of 72. He had in-depth rearch on the formation, characteristics, zoning and changes of China's climate, geography and the history of natural science, and was the founder of Chine phenology.
