Thanksgiving Day is a big festival in the US. It’s a day for people to get together（团聚) with their families. It’s also a day to give thanks. It’s always on the fourth Thursday in November. This year it is on November 24.
How do Americans celebrate (庆祝) this day? They come back home from all over the country. They have a Thanksgiving dinner with their families.
A Thanksgiving dinner has turkey（烤鸡）, gravy（肉汁）, sweet potatoes（蕃薯）, mashed potatoes（土豆泥）and much more. The most popular desrt（甜品）is pumpkin (南瓜) pie.

We just said goodbye to Halloween. Now we're on the way to Thanksgiving. It's on the fourth Thursday of November. This year it's on November 24. It is a time for family reunions （团圆）in the US. It's also

Get a big stomach丰盛的大餐
Turkey is the main dish (主菜). This is why Thanksgiving is also called Turkey Day. People put bread and stuffing (馅料) into the turkey. They roast (烘烤) it. They also eat mashed potatoes and vegetable salad. Pumpkin pie is a desrt at the end of the meal.
Make a wish许个愿吧
Kids get the wishbone (许愿骨) from the turkey. The wishbone is in the turkey's chest (胸部). Two kids take each end of the bone, make a wish and pull to break the bone（扯开弄断骨头）. Whoever has the bigger piece gets their wish!
Be a good host 做热情好客的小主人
1. Meet and welcome your friends at the door.
2. Make your friends feel at home.
Be a good guest做彬彬有礼的小客人
1. Be on time.
2. Bring small gifts.
3. If you don't like the food, you can say “No, thanks.”

Turkey 火鸡
Turkey is the main dish. So we also call Thanksgiving “Turkey Day”.
大家通常早早就开始为大餐做准备。First, we buy a turkey and clean it. Then we make the stuffing. The stuffing is usually bread and herbs(草药). 把好吃的填充物塞进火鸡里，就可以开始烤了！
Side dish 配菜
What el do we eat? We have sweet pumpkin pies. 土豆泥也是感恩节餐桌上的一个主角。And fruit! It’s a time for grapes, pears, oranges and apples.
Wishbone 许愿骨
Kids can play a game after the meal. 火鸡里有一块“V”字形的骨头。We call it a wishbone. Mom or dad takes the bone from the turkey. Two kids pull the bone apart (扯开). 谁扯下的那块骨头更长呢？You can make a wish!

So much to eat on Turkey Day! Want to share with your friends? But do you know how to be a good host (主人) or guest (客人)?

Try to make your guests feel at home.
Introduce (介绍) everyone. Talk to them.
For the guest
Take a small gift.
