He appears to have many friends.
He appeared to be talking to himlf.
I appear to have made a small mistake.

The cat ems to want a drink.

Nothing ems to have been forgotten.
He did not appear to rent it.
He appeared not to rent it.
She does not em to be at home.
She ems not to be at home.
I can’t em to find my glass anywhere.
I em to be unable to find my glass anywhere.
He appears (to be) quite old.
She appears (to be) a very religious person.
What ems easy to some people ems difficult to others.

I spoke to a tall man who emed to be the boss.
em后面还可跟like(一般不跟as),相当于em to be。如:
This small mountain village ems like a good place for a holiday.
3.It appears/ems that…
It ems as if (though)… as if意为“像”、“好象”、“似乎”,只作连词,引导状语从句,通常用虚拟语气,表示与事实相反的情况。 as if与as though同义。
It appears to me that you are all mistaken.

---“So it ems”. or “It ems not”.
4.在There appear/em to be结构中,appear ,em的单复数形式由to be后面的名词决定。
