thethemeofthisyearsprideisfreedom.andiwantthistobeacountrywhereallchildrenarefreefromthefearofbullyingwhereelderlypeoplehavethefreedomtobewhotheyarewhereoursportsmenandwomenhavethefreedomtoachieve;peopleliketomdaley,claireharvey,nicolaadamsandcaystoney,whoproudlyreprentthiscountry,andwhereno-
oneisatriskofthesickeninghomophobicattacksthat,sadly,stillhappenonourstreets.
andthisisntjustaboutbritain.wearecommittedtoimprovinglgbtrightsacrosstheworld.ihaveraidmyconcernsaboutthetreatmentofgaypeopleinrussiawithpresidentputin,andtheforeignofficepressthecaforpositivechangearoundtheworld.thevaluesoftolerance,freedomandrespect–thearethevaluesthatdefineusinbritain.
notonlyshouldwetakegreatprideinthemweshouldencouragetherestoftheworldtotakeourlead.
