Unit 24 What were they doing?
1. It’s quite a nice elephant.
注意quite一般要放在“a’之前,而very则放在“a’”之后”。例如:
(1)The street is quite busy at this time of day.
(2)Lucy is quite a lovely girl. = Lucy is a very lovely girl.
Lucy
(3)He is quite careful.
(4)It’s very cold today.
2. What was Jim drawing when the teacher came in?
When the teacher came in。又如:
(1)I was doing my homework when my mother got home.
(2)She was doing some shopping when I met her yesterday.
(3)What were you doing at this time last night.
3. What was he drawing on?
(1)What are you looking for?
(2)Who are you talking with?
(3)What was he drawing on?
4. He found it very difficult to sleep and he was rather angry with the man upstairs.
(1)I feel my duty to help you.
(2)I found it easy to answer the question.
(3)I think it better to start at ven.

(5)He was angry at / about what she said.
5. With a smile the man from downstairs said “I am sorry to trouble you.”
(1)He asked for me almost with a cry.
(2)She said good-bye with tears in her eyes.
(3)I went out with the window open.
6. Would you plea not do this?
句中的Would / will plea是谓语,后接不带to的不定式。例如:
(1)Would you plea come a little earlier tomorrow?
(2)Will you plea not come in? He is talking with a visitor.
7. Masha and SaSha were fed up with their neighbour Misha.
