Q.        DO I NEED A VISA TO ENTER THE PHILIPPINES FOR TOURISM PURPOSES?

Q.        WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR THE RETENTION AND REACQUISITIO
N OF PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP?

a.  Three (3) recent 2" x 2" photographs of the applicant/s (front left side, and right side views over white background);

c.  Certificate of Naturalization in a foreign country, or foreign issued passport;

Q.        WHO ARE ENTITLED TO DUTY AND TAX FREE PRIVILEGES?
A.        Duty and Tax free privileges depends on an individual's particular status:
1. Returning Resident is a Filipino national who has gone abroad and is now returning. Only tho w
ho have an uninterrupted stay abroad for at least six (6) months prior to their return to the Philip背景的英文 pines are entitled to duty
and tax free privileges.
2. Overas Filipino Worker (OFW) is a Filipino national who worked in a foreign country under an employment contract. Only OFWs who have an uninterrupted stay abroad for at least six (6) months prior to their return to the Philippines are entitled to duty and tax free privileges.
3. Former Filipino is a Filipino national who has acquired foreign citizenship abroad and is now returning. Only former Filipinos who have an uninterrupted stay abroad for at least six (6) months prior to their return to the Philippines are entitled to duty and tax free privileges.
Q.        ARE BALIKBAYANS ALSO ENTITLED TO CERTAIN DUTY AND TAX PRIVILEGES?
A.        BALIKBAYAN is another term for an OFW or a former Filipino. A returning resident is also a BALIKBAYAN when he has stayed abroad for at least one year. Therefore Balikbayans are entitled to duty and tax free privileges.
Q.        WHAT IS THE EXTENT OF DUTY AND TAX PRIVILEGES OF RETURNING FILIPINOS/BAL
IKBAYANS?
A.        The extent varies as follows:
1. Returning Residents: Personal effects and houhold goods ud abroad for at least six (6) months and the dutiable value of which is not more than P10,000.00 are exempt from duties and taxes. Any amount in excess of P10,000.00 is subject to 50% duty to the first P10,000.00
2. Overas Filipino Worker (OFW) : In addition to the privileges granted to Returning Residents as described above, an OFW may be allowed to bring in, duty and tax free P10,000.00 of USED home appliances, provided: a) the quantity is limited to one of each kind; b) the privilege has not been enjoyed previously during the calendar year which fact must be declared under oath by the owner; c) the owners passport is prented at the
port/airport of entry; and d) any amount in excess of P10,000.00 will be subject to duty and tax.
3. Former Filipino: Professional instruments and implements, tools of trade occupation or employment, wearing apparel, domestic animals, and personal houhold effects shall be exempt from payment of Customs duties and taxes. Provided that the change of residence was bonafide, the
privilege of free entry was never availed of before and that the articles are brought from their former place of abode.
Q.        CAN I ACQUIRE REAL PROPERTY IN THE PHILIPPINES EVEN IF I AM ALREADY A NATURALIZED CHINESE CITIZEN?
A.        Any natural born Filipino citizen who has lost his/her Philippine citizenship may acquire land up to a maximum area of five thousand (5,000) square meters in the ca of urban land or three (3) hectares in the ca of rural land to be ud by him/her for business or other purpos.
