Dear _,
My name is Lin Hao, from Northeast China---Heilongjiang Province. The long-term and cold climate has allowed me to develop a tough and tenacious character in the cour of my life. In 20 years, I was admitted to China with excellent results. Jilin University, a prestigious university, is currently studying for a bachelor's degree in economics majoring in international economics and trade, and a cond degree in futures investment and management major in the same period. My university is a comprehensive university with a very complete range of disciplines. My university life has not only enabled me to develop a comprehensive and three-dimensional development in learning methods and professional knowledge, but more importantly, it has improved my ability to integrate knowledge of various disciplines. At the same time, it greatly incread my desire for knowledge. Therefore, I decided to study in the UK after graduation. Through understanding, I currently hope to apply for a __University__ major.
Family is very important to everyone, becau it is the first classroom for us to receive education. My grandfather was a banker, my father was a businessman, and my mother was a statistician. Their words and deeds to me played an extremely important role in the establishment and development of my outlook on life and values, and also helped me. Established an honest, hardworking, and never-say-fail character. So influenced by them, I am very interested in finance disciplines. My family is the most important ast in my life. It gives me the interest in learning this subject and the character of going forward courageously.
Through the learning of professional knowledge, I have developed a strong interest in economics and finance. I read ^v^Life Economics^v^ by Dr. David Friedman. In the book, he ud easy-to-understand cas. Combining the misty principles of economics with people’s ordinary life has enabled me to master the economic principles that most people find boring, and the learning methods in real life. At the same time, I have a good understanding of Fried Dr. Man developed a feeling of worship. In the same year, I read his masterpiece ^v^Price Theory^v^ again. Through the study of this book, I became obsd with knowledge of currency and finance. Due to the strong desire for knowledge, I started to minor in the cond degree ^v^Futures Investment and Management^v^. During this period, I met a mentor, Professor Lu, a very famous scholar in China's futures industry. Professor Lu combines the theory and practice of the futures market, and combines the true meaning of life with the operation of the futures market, which is regarded as a ^v^casino^v^ by outsiders, and teaches us the knowledge of the futures market and economic investment. This teaching method is in line with my learning habits, so I quickly entered the state. We often discuss the development of China’s futures industry and the price fluctuations of the world futures market together. In the autumn of 2005, I was invited to assist him in completing the ^v^China Financial Futures^v^ Rearch work on the ^v^Enlightenment of the Japane Yen Development Route to the Development of China's Renminbi^v^ in the ^v^Market Establishment^v^ project. Becau of his outstanding performance, he won the appreciation of Professor Lu.
In addition to studying professional knowledge, in my spare time, I also established the first leukemia volunteer organization in Jilin Province and rved as the chairman. Helped 10 children with leukemia from poor families in the form of voluntary activities. Every year, they held lectures on leukemia knowledge at Jilin University, as well as volunteer registration activities for the Chine bone marrow bank (Chine hematopoietic stem cell bank), and blood sample extraction activities. In the past three years, the association has been Under my leadership, we have made considerable progress and achieved outstanding results. Many media have reported on our activities. On the website of _社 on October 25, 20_, we also reported on our activities. In addition, my deeds were also reported to the famous Chine student magazine ^v^East, West, South, North and University Students^v^ Issue 03 of the year 20_. The honors fully prove the affirmation of my work by the society and the school. Now, one of every 150 volunteers in the Chine bone marrow bank is developed by my association. The association has also been awarded the title of Jilin University Boutique Association for three concutive years. I was also named the first ^v^Moving Ji University^v^ of Jilin University. The title of top ten college students, and at the same time, through the establishment of a volunteer association, not only enabled me to realize the value of life, but also exercid my organizational skills, which greatly improved my personal quality. In addition, I also like sports very much. I am good at sprinting, football, etc. Young, I should be full of vitality.
In the summer of 20_, as a student reprentative of Jilin University, I visited a famous university. As a Chine reprentative, I participated in more than ten student exchange activities, and as a cultural mesnger, I spread Chine traditions and modern culture to the students, and through the visit, I learned some culture and visited their education system. In the process, I was deeply moved by the university's advanced teaching mode and strong scientific rearch capabilities. Compared with my own school, although we have developed rapidly, there is still a gap between the world's top education. This feeling inspired my enthusiasm for learning. After returning to my country, I decided to u my own strength to make my own contribution to the development of my motherland. This is also an important reason why I applied to your school, becau as a The responsibility of the Chine is to u the advanced knowledge I learned overas to build my motherland.
^v^Practice, firm, and hardworking^v^ is the fine tradition I inherited, and it is also my life creed. Facing the imminent graduation from university, a strong thirst for knowledge and a passion for professional knowledge, I decided to continue my professional study and accept the rigorous teaching, cutting-edge rearch and new ways of thinking in the university, so as to enrich mylf and realize mylf I also hope that I can become the mesnger of the culture of the two countries. Thank you for your attention and look forward to your reply!

Dear _,
It is my conviction that the meaning of life does not dwell in the length of time that one can live or the material abundance that one can acquire, but in the richness and the wonderfulness of life itlf. With the increa of my age, many things in my life have changed. But one thing remains constant, that is, I will consistently insist on doing what I like to do and hope that my endeavors can be valuable to the life of others. I e this as the only way whereby I can realize the value of my life.
My undergraduate study focud on economics and I achieved remarkable scholastic performance in this field. My GPA is (my GRE score is 2020 and TOEFL---- ). For four concutive years of my undergraduate study, I received scholarships for my distinguished academic performance. Due to my equally prominent performance in extracurricular activities I was conferred on the Outstanding Student in Campus Activities. However, honestly speaking, my real interest lies not in economics, but in education. Ever since I was a primary school student, I had cherished a strong desire for a teaching career exemplified by my teachers. In the actual teaching career that I embarked on upon my graduating from university, I have become increasingly aware that the existing educational conditions in China are far from satisfactory. The backward teaching methodology and the prevailing pedagogical ideology have rendered Chine education out of place with the modern international development in education. On the macro level, the current education theory and practice in China lag significantly behind advanced countries in the West. For instance, though education via the internet has achieved considerable development in past two years, in practical operation such education has more often than not deteriorated into an extended form of the conventional examination-oriented education instead of a really interactive process. In my personal experience, despite the fact that some of the problems that I have encountered in my teaching career can be solved by consulting relevant technical literature, I have found that the more rious flaws inherent in China's current educational system cannot be worked out easily. Under such circumstances, an advanced program in education becomes necessary.
In this age of information, traditional education, both in its ideology and methodology, has met unprecedented challenge like many other aspects of human existence. Meanwhile, the pursuit for higher levels of educational development and of the quality of life has largely transformed the educational value orientation of the general public. The educational model that is centered around the cognitive and intellectual instruction has been riously questioned. Greater attention has been devoted to the cultivation of well-developed personality and to the ontological status of the individual in education. Such issues as the internal studies of education science, scientific decision-making in education, and meta-education have also been increasingly emphasized upon. There have also been innovations in educational rearch methodology. The tendency has been to combine modern technology with humanistic rearch categories and with naturalistic rearch categories, and to organically integrate qualitative descriptions with quantitative descriptions. It is also important to carry out educational experimentations in which educational predictions are complemented by educational feedbacks. Both the complexity of education and the complexity of human individuals have made the comprehensive application of diver educational approaches necessary. Tho new horizons are what fascinate me.
In view of the following qualifications that I have acquired, I believe that I will acquit mylf satisfactorily in the prospective . program in education that I am currently endeavoring to apply for. First and foremost, as is often claimed, one's interest is one's best director. I believe that I will do well what I am really interested in doing. Secondly, though I majored in economics as an undergraduate, my trainings during that stage helped develop effective modes of thinking and rearch approaches. In addition, I conscientiously lf-studied many works related to education, including A Developmental History of Educational Science in the West, which enabled me to construct a solid groundwork for more advanced studies in this field. Next, it can be safely asrted that education and economics are not entirely parated. For example, it is necessary to apply many statistical methods in educational psychology and my academic record indicates that statistics is the subject that I am most good at. Last but not the least, my current teaching career and my teaching experience will play a positive role in facilitating my target degree program.
The reason why I apply for the University of -- is that it is the first state university with a time-honored history. The School of Education in this university is quite prominent among its counterparts in the field. I am particularly attracted by the School's powerful pedagogical resource, vibrant intellectual atmosphere and a comprehensive curriculum. I plan to apply for a degree program in Instructional Technology or Educational Psychology, both of which enjoy unparalleled academic reputation in the world. My application for Instructional Technology is motivated by my strong interest in the application of modern science and technology, especially the information technology reprented by the Internet, in the field of education and in the nature of a ries of revolutionary changes resulting thereof. Instructional Technology is a new discipline that has emerged as a result of the rapid development of modern communication technology since the late 20th century. It has tremendous potential for development and commercial application. As for my motive in lecting Educational Psychology as another possible area of specialization in my degree program, it is my long-cherished interest that primarily counts. On the other hand, all the accomplished educators since the 1960's have been well-verd in psychology. Almost every important new educational theory is derived psychological findings in one way or another so that educational psychology has subquently developed into a fundamental subject for the science of education. The tendency in the 21st century is to emphasize on the micro rearch of educational activities and against this backdrop educational psychology will be attached greater importance. In Instructional Technology, I would like to focus on the following studies: how to improve educational efficiency by applying rearch results from natural sciences and engineering technology; how to explore the combination and coordination of pedagogical contents and to improve teaching methodology by exploiting the theoretical findings from psychology and educational science concerning the process of teaching and learning. In Educational Psychology, I will concentrate on applied cognition and development, gifted and creative education, genetics and children development, personality structure and individual differences and other related subjects.
For me, to shift from economics to education and to pursue an advanced degree in the United States is not so much a challenge as an opportunity. At prent, major reforms are being introduced into virtually every important aspect of Chine society. The field of education especially calls for comprehensive reforms. The United States occupies an absolutely leading position in the prent-day world in education. It is my conviction that, in the United States, advanced educational theories, technologies and information will facilitate me immenly in the achievement of remarkable academic progress, fulfilling my aspiration to become an accomplished professional in the field of education. This will not only bring my patriotic fervor into reality but also make my life more meaningful and rewarding.
Yours sincerely,

Due to the comprehensiveness of Chinas reform and open policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England.
The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of Chinas new breed of modern entrepreneurs. As a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. My mother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simple calculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I, also, would someday be able to enter the realm of business. With the time of growing up, I preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. I never cead to contemplate over the questions I encountered. Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly. As a high school student in China, I had to concentrate on the College Entrance Examination (CEE), even so, books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, 20__, I was so nervous that I didnt score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in the department of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional Chine Medicine. Any attempt to persuade mylf to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. After veral terms, I realized that I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At that moment, I lost my direction and objectives. My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some books about management by Peter . I began to notice something interesting: Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can ll more than others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties? With the questions in my mind, I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book Jack: Straight from the Gutby Jack Welch, in Which John A. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. When I was a junior, I ran a bookshop by mylf near my school. I should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. From this, my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed, definitely I was increasingly interested in what I was doing. By December, 20__, I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT.
To accumulate more relevant knowledge, I strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies. Fortunately, as a nior, I began by conducting an internship in the Architecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months, I worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different industries. The experience showed me that management is much more important than that of I thought in big companies. After graduation, I continued my work in this company. In May, 20__, the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depth discussions with teachers and students in the class, they all encouraged me to pursue my future career in management field becau of my intellectual ability and the brand new ideas I mentioned. During the short period of training, I realized that pursuing a higher degree in management is a wi choice for me now. Lancaster, with its excellence in management, reprents the perfect fit for my needs. In your challenging environment, I can build the required foundation of knowledge related to management to achieve my goals. I am firmly convinced that your admission will be my first step of success. With this in mind, I hereby submit my application, and await your favorable reply.
Dear _,
“Life is Like a Box of Chocolates. You Never Know What You are Going to Get”. Such words come from a famous movie “Forrest Gump”. I don’t know what kind of chocolate life will give me, but I believe I can achieve my target if I work hard with my unwavering belief and pervering efforts like Forrest Gump. As a student of Mechanical Engineering, I have just finished my undergraduate study since July. Next what I have to face is to choo the new chocolate which I have yearned for all long. With four-year study of . in China, I would like to scale higher intellectual heights by undertaking advanced studies in __ University, as I believe its rich learning environment and free academic atmosphere will open my eyes to new realities and influence me to confront the situation back home.
My strong interest in rearch was born during the undergraduate years at _University. Upon entering the university in 2000, I began to embark on my journey of industrious study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. My exceptionally solid foundation in mathematics and physics provided me with a stepping stone with which I proceeded onto the exploration of other sophisticated and erudite subjects. My performance in all the specialty-related courwork not only enabled me to cure good GPA ranking me about top 17 in my grade among 169 students but also furnished me with a powerful instrument whereby to materialize my dreams in the rearch. I constantly congratulated my luck to obtain a lot of scholarships and awards, due to my academic achievement, from the university, especially the scholarship of “_University – American United Technological Corporation”, awarded only for the best students who are both good at academic and social capacity. Not contented with doing a good job in mere courwork, I endeavored to keep abreast with the latest theories and technologies by reading extensively technical literature in recent journals and attending the lecture some famous professors made. During my undergraduate career, I have grasped every chance to do some rearching work. I ud to participate in at least six projects including the intern work in the factory, mechanical designs and graduate design.
Especially during the period from September to November of 2003, I read many books and journals in the field of mechanical engineering such as “Handbook of Practical Gear Design” (Written by __). In the books, I did intensive reading on the theory of the speed reducer. I investigated and discusd with my teacher on how to apply the theory into the practice. Then according to my teacher’s advice, I tried to organize a team consisting of five members to make a harmonic gear reducer. As a team leader, I should not only take charge of the whole arrangement of project but also make every member of the team cooperate with each other harmoniously. Before starting the program, I, together with my team, made a detailed plan covering the schedule, materials, and equipment. The first step of our work is the design of the reducer. The design plan is as follows: (1) Set down the blue print. (2) Complete 3-D solid model with Pro/E software. (3) Finite-element analysis with ANSYS software. (4) Asmbling simulation by using Pro/E. (5) Complete the 2-D draft of part and asmbly. After two-week design work, we stepped to the next work, manufacture of the product. With the aid of the technique of computer, we plan the manufacturing process of every part. And then, all parts were made with various machine tools such as CNC lathe, wire electrical discharge machine, vertical machining center, and so on. Finally, we had toasmbly all parts to the harmonic gear reducer, and test-drove it for many times. With five-week unremitting efforts, we succeeded in the project of harmonic gear reducer and obtained the highest prai. This special experience makes it very helpful for my further study. Firstly, I find the connection between theory and practice. Textbooks could hardly cover everything, therefore, if we want to learn more, we should pursue every opportunity to have practices. Meanwhile, I experienced the importance and mightiness of cooperation. In the project, we divided ourlves into veral parts, not only doing one’s own work well, but also cooperating with each other harmoniously.
Another ca worthy mentioning is my design project for graduation, “Manufacturing and Performance of Electroplated CBN Tools”. The main objective of this project is the manufacturing of the electroplated CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) wheels and the rearch of its performance when grinding the heat-resisted steel. I had completed three steps of task. Firstly, I took charge of the manufacturing of electroplated CBN wheels, covering the following work: lecting electroplating solution, computing various electroplating parameters such as electrical current and temperature, adhering CBN to the tool ba by electroplating a nickel layer. After the basic preparations, I had to do the cond part of the rearch work to compare grinding abilities of electroplated CBN wheels with tho of other wheels such as SiC wheels, Al2O3 wheels etc. This part of the work needs the rearcher’s highly particularity and staidness. I did the detailed work as follows: (1) Grind heat-resisted steel with various wheels in the same grinding conditions. (2) Record data and compute the grinding ratio of various wheels. (3) Measure the surface roughness of the heat-resisted steel ground by various wheels. (4) Obrve dulling and pullout of abrasive grains of various wheels by using optical microscope. In this part, we can conclude that electroplated wheels have far better grinding abilities than other wheels, by comparing parameters, such as grinding ratio, surface roughness etc. The final assignment of the project is to find out the most suitable parameters of grinding heat-resisted steel with electroplated CBN wheels, through comparing the grinding ratio and surface roughness of heat-resisted steel ground in different grinding parameters. By investigating the attributes of electroplated CBN wheels and concluding their practical grinding parameters, this project is very important in promoting the application of them.
China’s unique advantage of labor force predicts the resplendent future of its Mechanical Engineering, especially the manufacture, and it is our belief that this day will come soon. On the other hand, there are so many experienced technicians in China, however, with the abnce of advanced experts many advanced producing method cannot be ud in practical yield. When I worked as intern in some factories, I found that most of them were still using facilities which were ud in America about thirty years ago. Therefore I want to u the advanced knowledge earned in United States, combined with my acquaintance with China, to improve the prent situation and apply best the advanced scientific technology to practical social wealth as soon as possible. I hope to become a successful rearcher in Mechanical Engineering, the arduous but exhilarative field. The significant progress achieved in , with the extraordinary cultural and intellectual sources in your university, has attracted me greatly. Bad on the study and the rearch experience in _ University, I am sure that I am qualified and would be an outstanding . student. With the advanced cours, balanced program and distinguished faculty of your department, I would get a solid background for my future academic career.
Yours sincerely,

^v^All I know about leadership I learned from . . .^v^ What items could a person u to describe leadership qualities?
Inspired by the student council advisors at my high school.
Student council was a big part of my life in high school. I have participated in it since my frst year of high school. When I frst joined, I was quiet, na?ve, and unwilling to participate in many activities. I was scared to meet new people and afraid to apply mylf. This all began to change. Half way through my frst year in student council, one of the advisors can up to me and asked why I did not participate that much. I did not have an answer for her and did not know how to respond. After this, I began to think of an answer. I became frustrated and decided to change. I started to show up at events and had a great time. I realized I loved this and wanted to start leading the activities. In my sophomore, junior, and now my nior year of high school, I asrted mylf and took on a strong leadership role in student council. I did not fgure out the answer to why I was so rerved until this year with the help of this question.
When I looked up leadership in the dictionary, it said that it was the capacity to lead and the act or instance of leading. The are two very broad defnitions of leadership. Many people have different notions of what this word actually means. When I was challenged to u different items to describe what leadership actually is, I thought this was going to be a hard and obnoxious task. What could I learn from comparing leadership to a stuffed animal or a rubber chicken? But when I sat down to come up with a couple of answers, I realized that leadership could be compared to almost anything a person wants.
All I know about leadership I learned from a calculator. A calculator can add everything together to come up with the best answer. It can delet e what is unnecessary and only include what is important. It can solve any type of problem. The are all important equalities a leader has to have. A leader has to be able to add all of the ideas together to make the best possible plan. Leaders have to know how to decipher the good and the bad out of an idea. They have to be versatile and know how to deal with different types of issues.
All I know about leadership I learned from a ball. A ball is able to bounce back up after it is dropped. It is round and has no creas. A ball can be thrown back and forth to different people. All of the qualities are also leadership qualities. A leader has to be ready for every situation that is thrown at him or her. He or she has to be able to bounce back from any tbacks and never dwell on the past. Leaders have to exhibit many qualities and never be clod-minded about a situation. A leader must be able to delegate when he or she cannot get the work done. They have to trust everyone they lead to be able to ^v^catch the ball^v^ and keep a project rolling.
This activity made me realize that being a leader is so much more than just having authority and having the ability to take control of a situation. A leader has to be trusting of all the people he or she leads and, leaders must be able to combine ideas into one encompassing idea. They cannot sit in the background and watch events happen; they have to jump in and be involved. They should not delegate all their responsibilities away.
Leadership is more than what the dictionary says it is.
I learned through all of this that I have many of the qualities.
I have the ability to solve problems, lead through adversity, and be versatile. From answering this question, I realized that I could lead effectively, even if my leadership style is different from other individuals. When I joined student council in my frst year of high school, I did not have the qualities becau I was never put into a situation where I had to lead. I was too rerved to try. When I tried, I learned that I could succeed in this. I did not realize until I answered this question about leadership. I was never able to e that being a leader is not just about taking control of a group and telling everyone what to When I was a freshman, I thought leadership was this. I did not know that did not have to be forceful and strict. I stereotyped a leader then. Thisis where I went wrong. A leader is about being yourlf and never letting anyone change you. I thought I had to change to be a good leaderOnly when I expanded my comfort zone did I realize this was not trueIt only took three years and a silly question/game to fgure this out.

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England.
The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs.
Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, 2001, I was so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam.
As a matter of fact, I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some books about management by Peter ker. I began to notice something interesting: Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can ll more than others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?
With the questions in my mind, I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book “Jack: Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch, in Which John A. By December, 2003, I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT.
In May, 2005, the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school.
Yours sincerely,

Letters of recommendation are a very important part of the application process. As colleges become more and more sought out from the increasing number of applicants each year, the need to stand out from the competition is also increasing. Below we will provide helpful information on how to write a college recommendation as well as advice for tailoring each letter.
A high school transcript can help tell an admissions office a lot about a candidate, but a college recommendation letter provides an opportunity for them to e the whole person. While recommendation letters are never a bad idea to include in the application, even if the college does not require one, many colleges do necessitate the inclusion of one. Here is some advice to keep in mind when writing a college recommendation letter:
Know the candidate - it may sound obvious, but it is important that you know the candidate well. After all, how can you write a college recommendation letter for a someone you know little about? Recommendations written for candidates with a vague familiarity are often identifiable and can do more harm than good.
How you know the candidate - when you write a college recommendation letter, make sure to include how you know the candidate as well as the length of time you have known that person.
Provide relevant information - be sure to find out the purpo of the recommendation so as to provide relevant information about the candidate and his or her specific qualifications. If the recommendation is to supplement an application, discuss how that person is an appropriate candidate for the college he or she is applying to. Despite its purpo, however, the overall goal of a college recommendation letter is to attest to the capabilities and character of the candidate.
Obtain a rsum - another tip on how to write a collage recommendation letter is to first obtain the student's rsum with a listing of his or her GPA, activities, awards, leadership roles, community rvice, employment experience and special skills. The more information you have about a particular candidate, the more constructive your recommendation can be.
Personalize the letter - to help make the letter more personal, before writing a college recommendation letter, it is important to determine the person to whom the letter should be addresd. If the student is unaware of the name, the letter may begin ^v^Dear Selection Committee.^v^
Proofread the letter - one of the most important tips on how to write a college recommendation letter is making sure to proofread it when finished. A letter containing grammatical errors will appear unprofessional and may leave a negative impression.
Mailing the letter - establish with the student whether the recommendation letter must be mailed in an official envelope from your institution, or if it can be included with the application. If it is to accompany the application, return the letter to the candidate in a aled envelope.
Determine the deadline - double-check with the student as to the deadline of the college recommendation letter. Ideally, you will be given an adequate amount of time to complete a positive, detailed letter, however, the most important detail is that it is received before the application deadline.
Save the letter - when you have finished writing a recommendation, be sure to save it in order to help make writing the next college recommendation letter easier. The student will likely be applying to more than one school and may ask that you write a parate recommendation for each one. Although it is important that each letter is tailored to the application at hand, lect information can be recycled for multiple letters. It is more convenient to tailor the original passage than to repetitively recollect the advice on how to write a college recommendation.
What Colleges Really Want
Colleges place a large emphasis on a student's academic ability becau what is accomplished in high school is the strongest predictor of their academic success in college. What colleges really want, however, is a win-win situation. They want to admit students who will thrive at their institution, not only for the student's benefit, but for their own as well. As more and more students become college-bound, colleges and universities will become increasingly lective, placing more emphasis on the ability to know how to write a college recommendation letter.
As a teacher, counlor, employer or personal acquaintance of a college-bound teen, you may at some point receive a request for help in writing a college recommendation letter. The students are not only placing their trust in you, they are putting you in the unique position to make an impact on whether or not they are admitted to their college of choice. Following this advice on how to write a college recommendation will help to ensure a professional letter and give your candidate a greater likelihood of being accepted into his or her college of choice.

Dear x,
“The Foolish Old Man Removing a Mountain” is an allegory known to virtuallyevery Chine. The story tells that in ancient times there was an old foolishman by the name of Yu Gong who was determined to remove the WangWu Mountain, amountain that blocked him and his family from having access to the outsideworld, in an attempt to carve out a road leading to the outside world and hencecreate conditions for his posterity to achieve economic prosperity. The projectwas a Herculean task and, to make the matter wor, the old man was ratheradvanced in age. His neighbors all came to dissuade him from the endeavor. Butthe old man’s answer was that if he should die, his children and grandchildrencould succeed him. The day would come when the mountain could be removedultimately.
Inconceivable as they are, modern versions of this allegory occur in thefrequently impoverished mountain areas in prent-day China. The mountain folksresort to primitive manual labor (hence inevitably involving casualties) andsimple tools and usually spend many years, even more than a decade, to open uproutes inch by inch in order to have access to the market outside the deepmountains to ll their farm produce, so that their descendants will no longerbe confined to the kind of isolated and economically unprivileged life that theyare living. As a student with a Master’s degree in Road & RailwayEngineering, I can never maintain a tranquil state of mind whenever I read ofstories of this kind. I tell mylf that I have the obligation andresponsibility to help halt this dire reality. For this reason, I am determinedto ek a Ph. D. program in Communication & Transportation at your esteemeduniversity, a program that will enable me to reward my country with my knowledgeof the advanced transportation engineering technology in the world. Of cour, Iam soberly aware that to be accepted into your highly-respected program I willinevitably be faced with fierce competitions. Nevertheless, my sound academicbackground, rich work experience and the ability to undertake independentacademic rearch all testify to my qualifications as a worthy candidate foryour program.
My choice for Industrial and Civil Airport Construction and Highway AirportConstruction and Highway during my undergraduate program at the Department ofCivil Engineering and Architecture, x University, emed to have derived frommy family tradition. My father has long been a construction engineer and myinterest in civil engineering grew as I saw my father working on constructionplans and drawings and picking up bits and pieces of civil . My academic performance at x University, which is a key universityin the country, has been consistently characterized by top ranking, receivingStudent of Excellence award for four concutive years. My solid andcomprehensive academic foundation and outstanding performance came to theattention of the renowned airport construction expert Prof. xX, under whodirection I undertook my graduation project Design of an Airport Runway. In thisproject, I completed the overall design of a civil airport together with theairport’s roadnet. The roadnet design fully met the relevant national standardsand the overall airport layout was rationally designed, leading to unanimouslypositive evaluation by the reviewing panel.
My undergraduate program was immediately followed by a postgraduate programat x University, into which I was enrolled in my capacity as the top performerin the entrance examination. On a fiercer lever of competition, I doubled myacademic efforts and managed to be among the top five in my class, winning“Class-A” scholarships. My active involvement in rearch also bore fruits. Ipublished veral rearch papers, including x, in such central natural sciencejournals as x and x.
Entitled Study of the Low-Noi Mechanism of the Asphalt Pavement, myMaster’s thesis focud on tho issues: the mechanism of noi production oftyres, the parameters affecting the tyre’s noi, the noi-absorbing mechanismof asphalt pavement and the pavement configuration parameters affecting thelow-noi asphalt pavement. The thesis offered in-depth analysis of theeffective voidage of the asphalt pavement and the pavement thickness as majorfactors in reducing the noi production. The new subject as well as the uniqueperspectives of my thesis won positive comments from the reviewing panel whorated my work as “significant for the subquent rearch on low-noi asphaltpavement”.
My distinguished academic performance and rearch potential led to myemployment with x Province Expressway Co., Ltd. which made me responsible forthe construction and management of the x Expressway, a key national project. Asa major technical specialist, I was in overall charge of drafting relevanttender documents of pavement, participating in the construction of the roadbed, bridge, and pavement, organizing the spot check of the raw materials for theasphalt pavement, holding meeting to discuss technical details of the asphaltpavement, launching technical trainings and field inspections, implementing theSuperpave projects. The accumulation of rich and comprehensive experience inconstruction and management, and the problem-solving skills, and the ability towork effectively and efficiently, both independently and in teams, are the threemost important results I have achieved. Over the past four years, I have beengiven the “Model Employee” honor in my work performance evaluation.
An equally important component of my employment is my independent rearchwork. Two more papers, Construction Craft and Quality Control of SMA andApplication of Superpave in x Kaiyang Expressway were published in x (nationalcore journal of highway transportation). Some experts believe my papers offerdetailed elaboration on highway SMA and Superpave pavement, providing importantreference for the construction of other expressway projects.
While feeling proud for engaging in national-level projects, I have alsogained an insider’s knowledge of China’s underdeveloped conditions of civilengineering in road and highway construction. The areas of study that I willfocus in my propod . program are cloly connected with thoconditions—the methods of designing asphalt mixture, predictive evaluation ofasphalt pavement performance, quality control of asphalt pavement construction, and the regeneration technology of old asphalt pavement. I expect that throughyour program I will be extensively expod to the latest theoretical andtechnical developments in the world academia and take up fruitful rearch. Ifyour highly lective program accepts applicants with sound academicperformance, rich work experience and promising rearch potential, I canasrt, without any shame of arrogance, that I am exactly the candidate you arelooking for.
Yours sincerely,
xxx
