May 1st Friday Sunny

Today I went to the Science Muum with my best friend Lily. We went

there on foot, becau it is not far from our school. We saw many pictures!

And we learned many things! There were many parents and their children in

it! Most children were students. I think they learnt many things, too. After

2 hours, we left the muum. We got back by bus becau we were tired. But

we had a good time!

The Lantern Festival or Yuanxiao Jie is a traditional Chine festival,

which is on the 15th of the first month of the Chine New Year. The festival

marks the end of the celebrations of the Chine New Year.

Chine started to celebrate the Lantern Festival from the Han Dynasty

(206 BC - 221 AD).

Like most other Chine festivals, there is also a story behind the

Festival. It is also believed that the festival has Taoist origins.

This is a festival for people having fun. On the night of the festival,

people go on streets with a variety of lanterns under the full moon,

watching lions or dragon dancing, playing Chine riddles and games, and

lighting up firecrackers. There is really a lot of fun for the young and

the old.

Yuanxiao (glutinous rice ball) or Tangyuan is the special food for the

Lantern Festival.

It is believed that Yuanxiao is named after a palace maid, Yuanxiao,

of Emperor Wu Di of the Han Dynasty. Yuanxiao is a kind of sweet dumpling,

which is made with sticky rice flour filled with sweet stuffing.

Yuanxiao is sticky, sweet and round in shape, symbolizing family unity,

completeness and happiness.

Today, the weather was awful. And I don’t like the weather. It could

make me feel unhappy. It’s fidgety to do anything. However, this day was

the first day in National Day vacation. Everybody will have a good rest.

And someone is relaxing at home, someone is traveling, others are going

shopping. In short, everyone is going to enjoy themlves.

But this day, I spent time in doing homework. Although I didn’t do

much homework, I felt tired. I thought I really needed to relax. But at

night, I played computer with my brother. We saw an interesting movie. That

talked about love and courage. That is a really very nice movie. And I really

like that protagonist. She told me about friends and friendship. What a

busy day I had!

This afternoon I went to play basketball with some of my good friends

happily.

At the very beginning, I didn‘t want to go playing basketball though

my friends invited me to. I was (had been) in a bad mood the whole afternoon

becau I didn‘t do well in the math exam. With their comfort and

encouragement, I went with them. However, I was just one of the audience.

I dare not have a try becau I was afraid that I couldn‘t play well.

Encouraged by my good friends, I picked up the basketball and played with

them. And luckily I got scores. I felt very excited.

Now I have become cheerful and above all I‘ve regained lf-confidence.

I believe that the worst enemy in one‘s life is onelf. I shouldn‘t lo

heart just becau of one or two failures becau I still have chances to

try.
