2.7.
3.1.1 Connector Specification
This ction is for connector manufacturers. Cable manufacturers shall build their cable to the specifications. To be “Approved as NMEA 2000 connector” a manufacturer must prove that their connectors are built and are tested to meet the minimum requirements. This cable shall have the characteristics of the type bad on the reference of the ODVA (Open Device Net Association) Volume Three Edition 1.1 Specification. See Table 1 below for specifications for NMEA 2000 Heavy (Mini) Cable

2.7.
3.1.1 Connectors shall be aled at the threads and at the cable entry and meet the Durability and Resistance to Environmental Conditions for “Expod Equipment” of IEC 60945 (4th Edition) Section 8, including Section 8.8 (Rain).

3.1.3The network end of the drop cable and power supply cable shall have male pins and external threads on the connector housing.
2.7.
3.1.4Lengths of a network backbone cable using two connectors shall have male pins and external threads on the connector housing on one end and female sockets and internal threads at the other end.

3.1.5Connectors ud to mount termination resistors shall have the termination resistor connected between NET-H and NET-L, no connections are allowed to the other three terminals.

3.1.6When ud in expod locations the termination resistor connections shall meet the Durability and Resistance to Environmental Conditions for “Expod Equipment” of IEC 60945(4th Edition) Section 8, including Section 8.8 (Rain).

3.1.7When termination connectors are ud at both backbone cable ends (vs. barrier strips) one-termination connector shall be male and the other female. Following this practice allows for future lengthening of the network backbone cable.

3.1.8Cable wires using the recommended colors shall be attached to the connector pins as shown in the Table 3:
