“Will rap for food”
ACT ONE
SCENE A
INT – AUTOMOBILE – DAWN
Voice-over narration:
The hardest part about being homeless is trying to fill your day. Everybody wants to retire and being homeless is like permanent, early retirement. I don’t want to complain about
the free meals at the mission and the hours at the library. Yet, once and a while, I would like to plan my day around something that costs money.
I open the car door to stretch my legs. A cardboard sign
falls over. It reads, “Follow the NEWS, signed Dan.” My life takes a new direction; an old friend wants me to play detective.

Voice-over narration:
Calvin called everybody a “ho”. He was a street musician now but I always wondered if here were a pimp before he switched to music.

Calvin and I take up a position that is one block northeast of our original location. Calvin starts to perform.
CALVIN
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like
to do a song called HOIN’. It goes

something
like
If you ain’t walking
You ain’t working
一年级试卷数学Your mouth’s not for talking
You know I’ll be lurking
Lookin over your shoulder
Slappin your sweet rear
You’re getting older
One month is a street year
Today you’re sixteen
In two years you’re forty
Yesterday you had dreams
But now you work for me
There’s no overtime
Can’t go on strike
You’re doin a crime
“You know what I like”
That’s what old men say
You act like their daughter
But not until they pay
Just like I taught ya
I broke you in fast
Played all the head games
I needed the cash
Showed you the bed games
