Passage 1
(2017·辽宁鞍山·中考真题)James is a good student and he has lots of friends, but he also has a problem. Some older boys are bullying (欺负) him at school. James is very unhappy and he doesn’t know what to do about it. Here are some suggestions for him and other teenagers in this situation.
Don’t feel worried. It’s not your fault! Being bullied can make you feel very lonely and angry, but you are not alone.
Don’t feel that you have to hide the problem. You should find a person you can trust, and tell him. It might be your teacher, your parents, or even your friend’s parents. After you tell someone, you will get some support and feel some relief.
Speaking to an adult might make you nervous, but here are other things you can do. Some people express their feelings more freely on paper. Write a letter to someone or keep a diary. Include all the facts about what the bullies do, as well as when and where the bullying happens. You can u it as proof (证据) to show what is going on. And it is a wonderful idea to show your letter or diary to a teacher or another responsible adult. Then the bullies will feel very afraid if their names appear in a letter!

(2018·四川甘孜·中考真题)Nowadays, many children are treated as “little emperors” at home. Parents show so much love to their children that when they face problems, they don’t know how to solve them. So it’s important for children to learn to be independent.
In my opinion, parents should believe in their children and not do everything for them. It’s necessary to give children proper advice and more chances to make their own decisions. And it’s a good idea to allow children to have enough time to think about questions by themlves instead of telling them the answers.

should learn to do chores in the hou. It helps to develop their independence and teaches them how to look after themlves. And when they face difficulties, they should ask their parents for help and then solve them independently.

Passage 3
厦门市总工会(2021·广东·蛇口育才二中三模)① Conflict (冲突) happens when two people disagree becau of their own goals, values, or beliefs. It’s not always as simple as an argument. Instead, conflict is what happens right before the argument; it’s what the two people disagree about before they start calling each other names.
② Parents and teenagers have many chances to experience conflict with one another. Teenage years are a time when independence and parental influence fight, since teens ar
e able to think on their own but still live with parents who have rules and expectations for them. Teenagers don’t necessarily hold the same beliefs and values as their parents, and their goal to have fun often conflicts with their parents’ goal to keep them safe.
