(2018·四川省成都市诊断性检测)What are your retirement plans? Keep working? Get more exerci? Or learn something new? You may put them on hold. There’s a chance that, sooner or later, you might have to move further than you were thinking, as far as Mars (火星).
On Thursday, National Geographic will show the first ever Mars show home, giving earthlings an idea of what their life could look like on the Red Planet. Set in the notsodistant year of 2037, the iglooshaped structure could be the home of your future.
It shows a hou built using recycled spacecraft parts and Martian soil, called regolith, which has been microwaved into bricks. Some parts of the home are recognisable—kitchen, bedroom—but there are fundamental differences that are vital for human survival.
As the Martian atmosphere is around one hundredth as thick as the Earth’s, people will need permanent shelter from the sun and society will move largely indoors. Most buildings will be connected by underground passages and the hous won’t have windows. The homes will have simulated solar lighting, or natural light that has been bent veral times.

Walls will need to be 10 to 12 feet thick, to protect people from dangerous rays that can pass through six feet of steel, and a double airlocked entrance to keep the home under proper pressure.
“We don’t think of our hous as things that keep us alive, but on Mars your hou will be a survival centre,” says Stephen Petranek, author of How We’ll Live on Mars. This is not just the stuff of scifi. “Ten to twenty years from now there will certainly be people on Mars,” Petranek says.便隐血
“We’ve had the technology for 30 years to land people on Mars, 炸豆腐的做法but we haven’t had the will,” Petranek says. “But two main factors have completely swung public attitudes.”
The private companies’ participation has forced government agencies to up their game, and influential films such as Gravity and The Martian have caught society’s eye.

(2018·广东七校联合体高三联考)Driving on up to Yomite with my family was exciting but nerveracking(令人紧张的).I had never been to such an amazing national park before, yet I wasn’t the most athletic person so I knew that I couldn’t stick through all the hiking up and down. It actually ended up being a fun and adventurous experience.

The ride there was definitely long but worth it. As I woke up from my nap, I saw the beautiful scenery of the tall mountains and beautiful streams. The trails were made nicely for visitors. The waterfalls were breathtaking. Climbing up rocks was one of my favorite parts. Even though I fell a couple of times, I still had a lot of fun. The fact that my family and I spent so much time together all trying to find out which route to take and what views to watch really brought us clor together.
The great thing about nature is that, it’s just you, the views, and the people around you. There’s nothing to bother you and it’s the best way to relax and enjoy yourlf. Yomite has 5 of the world’s highest waterfalls, and about 300 lakes. The structure of each mountain is incredible;it’s formed in ways that almost take your breath away. Some of them are of a deep dark color with waterfalls forming; some are formed with spots of green peeking(窥探) out. It’s definitely something you wouldn’t want to miss.
Yomite isn’t the only great national park but bad on my experience I highly recommend going out and enjoying nature with family and friends. It’s a great time to bond, laugh, and take in what Mother Nature offers.
