当名词作宾语补足语时，会跟名词作直接宾语相混淆，可用一种简便的方法加以区分：把宾语或直接宾语拿出来当主语（如果是人称代词，要把其改为主格），加上谓语动词be，再加上名词。如果句子意思通顺，句中的名词则是宾语补足语；如果句子意思不通顺，句中的名词则是直接宾语。
eg. I gave him a book. —— He is a book. （句子意思不通顺，句中 a book 是直接宾语）

下面是几个用名词或V-ing作宾补的动词，非常实用，一定要记住。
用名词直接作宾语补足语的动词有:name, nominate, call, choo, elect,
define. 例如:
We elected John Monitor.
We call him Iron Ox.
(注意不是说这些动词的后面,只能用名词作宾语补足语)
